Full Job Description

We are seeking an ambitious, hands-on Facility Manager to lead the daily operations of a highly regulated hazardous multi process TSDF waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility in Dayton, Ohio. This leadership opportunity offers the chance to oversee a technically advanced operation that processes a wide variety of hazardous and industrial waste streams while supporting significant capital investments and long-term growth initiatives. The facility is undergoing major modernization efforts and is positioned to become a flagship operation within the organization's environmental services network.

The successful Facility Manager will lead facility operations while ensuring the safe treatment, storage, processing, and transportation of hazardous waste in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

This is a highly visible leadership position for someone who enjoys being on the plant floor, mentoring employees, solving operational challenges, and building a culture focused on safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and employee development.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Lead all facility Safety, Environmental, and Compliance programs while promoting a culture of continuous improvement
Ensure compliance with all RCRA hazardous waste regulations, EPA requirements, air permits, wastewater permits, DOT regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations
Build and maintain positive working relationships with regulatory agencies including the Ohio EPA, RAPCA, Montgomery County POTW, and other permitting authorities
Direct the safe treatment, storage, handling, processing, and shipment of hazardous waste materials
Oversee operations involving hazardous waste treatment, solvent recovery, oil and water separation, industrial wastewater treatment, waste solidification, and containerized waste management
Partner with laboratory, engineering, maintenance, fleet, and environmental personnel to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant operations
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop team of supervisors and hourly personnel while fostering teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement
Develop succession plans and promote career growth through cross-training and employee development
Manage annual operating budgets, capital improvement projects, financial performance, labor costs, and profitability
Support ongoing facility modernization projects including new treatment technologies and process improvements
Collaborate with commercial and transportation teams to maximize facility utilization while maintaining operational excellence
Lead facility preparation for environmental inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews
Participate in the on-call leadership rotation supporting a 24/7 operation
Spend the majority of time working alongside employees on the plant floor rather than in an office environment

Qualifications Include

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Engineering, or another technical discipline preferred
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience within hazardous waste treatment, TSDF operations, environmental services, industrial wastewater treatment, or related industries
Strong knowledge of RCRA hazardous waste regulations and environmental permitting requirements
Experience working directly with EPA, state environmental agencies, air permitting agencies, and wastewater authorities
Experience managing hazardous waste treatment, storage, packaging, transportation, or disposal operations
Lab pack experience or experience identifying and classifying hazardous waste streams is highly desirable
Strong environmental compliance background with experience maintaining permits and preparing for regulatory inspections
Demonstrated leadership experience managing operations, maintenance, environmental, or technical teams
Strong safety leadership with HAZWOPER, OSHA 30, OSHA 10, or similar environmental health and safety training preferred
Experience managing budgets, P&L responsibilities, forecasting, and capital expenditures
Knowledge of DOT hazardous materials transportation regulations and hazardous waste manifesting
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience is a plus
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced environment
