Full Job Description

Bookkeeper Job Description

Wedgewood Accounting, PLLC is seeking a Bookkeeper with 2-5 years of experience. An Associate's degree in accounting or a similar program is preferred. The Bookkeeper's duties and responsibilities in the conduct of their assignments are outlined under three general headings: Familiarity with the Firm, General Accounting Expectations and Application, and Specific Job Expectations.

Familiarity with the Firm

The Bookkeeper is expected to acquire familiarity and understanding of the Firm's organization, the services it offers to clients, and its practices and policies relating to professional, administrative, and personnel matters.

General Accounting Expectations and Application

The Bookkeeper is responsible for knowing the interest of clients, the Firm, and the profession. This requires the development of technical skills and personal qualifications, including the following:

Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate complex data clearly.
Great interpersonal and customer service skills.
Professional appearance in attitude, dress, poise, and conduct.
Develop proficiency in the use of available resources (e.g., Firm manuals, computer software, etc.)

Specific Job Expectations

Various responsibilities of a bookkeeper are listed below:

Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
Perform bank reconciliations.
File sales and business tax returns.
Prepare timely financial statements.
Consistently and accurately process payroll for various clients, including weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll schedules.
Ensure accurate taxation and garnishment is applied to each account.
Conduct quarterly and year-end reporting for W-2s, etc.
Knowledge of QuickBooks (desktop or QuickBooks Online).
