Full Job Description

Title of Position: House Manager

Line of Authority:

The House Manager will monitor and supervise Residential Specialist.

Function of Position:

The House Coordinator is responsible for management of day-to-day facility operations. Provides support to the Facility Administrator and acts as the Administrator’s designee in their absence from the home. The House Coordinator ensures adequate staffing at the facility at all times, directly supervises the facility Residential Specialist, and provides feedback of their performance on a consistent basis. The house Coordinator facilitates the creation of a culture that is welcoming to children/youth and their families. The house Coordinator demonstrates integrity and deals well with ethical and confidential issues. The house Coordinator is a member of the leadership team and contributes to the development of agency policies and procedures that are constantly improving to meet the changing needs of the children, youth and families that we serve.

Responsibilities:

Is responsible for the development of a monthly menu, ensures that groceries and training is adequate to meet the requirements of a healthy menu for residents and staff that are on duty.

Oversight of the house budget and purchasing of household supplies

Oversight of systems that ensure that all resident appointments are posted

Maintain a “home like” atmosphere that is comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.

Develops staff training and milieu programming that is welcoming to family and significant adults in the lives of children/youth

Supports the development of group meetings which allow for the voice and influence of residents and family members in milieu programming.

Teams with the Case Manger as the “nucleus” of the house team

Submit any needed maintenance or furnishing needs to the Director of Operations

Assists the Director with hiring and termination

Program Responsibilities:

Accurately identifies staff training needs and works to meet those needs.

Focus on staff teamwork and the development of boundaries and effective relationships with residents.

Responsible for coaching, team building and discipline to support a team-oriented approach which values the residential counselor as an agent of change in the life of children.

Elicits feedback from staff regarding program and individual goals.

Provides feedback to staff in the form of a periodic Job Performance Evaluation.

Promotes clarity of roles and expectations and fair application of accountability in achieving those expectations.

The House Manger assists the Program Director with the scheduling of staff to ensure that staffing is strong, that ratio/coverage is maintained and that the house personnel costs are maintained within budgeted limits.

Submits time sheets as per schedule

Influences others to achieve department and organizational goals.

Promotes ethical behavior

Maintains training plan ensuring that the required number of annual training hours are achieved, provides documentation to the program Director in support of this goal.

Staff Supervision:

Responsible for facility staffing patterns ensuring adequate shift coverage at all times.

Covers shifts on short notice as needed if adequate coverage is unavailable.

Supervises staff work performance and provides corrective action as needed.

Assist Administrator in conducting annual evaluations of staff.

On call (24 hrs. a day) Cell phone will be provided

Children/Youth

Supports the development and implementation of individualized programming

Participates in all care team meetings as available

Develops standards and “traditions” to mark holidays, transitions and admissions which are respectful and celebratory of cultural/spiritual differences

Works with staff and residents to develop a rich and varied recreation/activity schedule in support of the residents.

Schedules follow-up medical appointments

Qualifications:

High School diploma and a minimum of 5 years of related experience

Some supervisory or administrative experience preferred

Excellent communications skills; good organization skills; able to work independently with good problem-solving skills

Computer skills to type weekly reports

Must present professional manner at all times with individuals, families and colleagues.

Must pass pre-employment drug screen

Must pass new employee screenings and criminal background checks

Must past initial and ongoing position-related trainings
Must have valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
