Little Prince of Oregon Nursery is located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley just south of the Portland metro area. We began in 1997 growing groundcovers and shrubs. Over the past 20 years, our product brands have grown to include succulents, ferns, herbaceous perennials, grasses, rare and unusual perennials, tropicals, and recently a new line of unusual houseplants. Within these brands, we have over 2000 varieties!

Job Title: Growing Supervisor
The Growing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily care and production of assigned crops while leading a team of growers and irrigators. This position combines hands-on crop management with team leadership to ensure healthy, high-quality plants are produced efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Grow and care for a diverse range of plant material, including perennials, succulents, ferns, tropicals, and other specialty crops.
- Utilize commercial growing and propagation techniques, including seed, cuttings, and TC.
- Oversee irrigation, fertilization, plant maintenance, sanitation, and greenhouse cleanliness within assigned growing areas.
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to growers and irrigators while fostering a positive, productive team environment.
- Follow crop production plans and watering strategies developed by the Head Grower and Assistant Head Grower.
- Monitor and report EC and pH levels to the Assistant Head Grower.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date crop records.
- Continuously expand knowledge of plant culture, production methods, and best management practices while researching solutions to crop challenges.
- Safely apply pesticides, plant growth regulators (PGRs), and other crop protection products in accordance with company policies and state regulations.
- Promote a safe workplace by following all company safety procedures and encouraging safe work practices.
- Demonstrate flexibility by assisting other departments as business needs require.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, seeking guidance when appropriate.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while managing time efficiently.
- Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Horticulture (or related field) with a minimum of three (3) years of commercial growing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of plant identification and the ability to recognize cultural, nutritional, insect, and disease issues.
- Experience producing both young plants and finished crops.
- Knowledge of, or strong interest in IPM and PGRs.
- Possess a Private Pesticide Applicator License or obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
- Strong understanding of irrigation management and the "language of watering."
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, or a willingness to learn Spanish to support effective communication with team members.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude with a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work extended hours during peak production seasons, including one weekend day when required.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and greenhouse environments, including high temperatures.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods throughout the workday.
