Full Job Description

Accounting Specialist (A/P Focus)

De Pere, WI

Washworld is seeking a detail-oriented, dependable Accounting Specialist to own the day-to-day accounts payable process while supporting broader accounting operations. This full-time, on-site role reports to the Controller and offers meaningful cross-functional exposure to Purchasing, Operations, month-end close, fixed assets, cash application, and process improvement.

This role is designed for someone who wants to build a strong AP foundation while expanding into broader accounting responsibilities over time — a genuine path to grow with a Finance team that is actively investing in its people, systems, and processes.

What You’ll Do:

Primary Accounts Payable Responsibilities

Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, including three-way matching for PO-based purchases.
Prepare AP payment batches ensuring payments align with approved vendor terms, discounts, and cash-management priorities.
Reconcile vendor statements and investigate pricing, quantity, receipt, and invoice discrepancies in coordination with Purchasing and Operations.
Take responsibility for the PO Clearing report and monitor for accuracy.
Maintain vendor records, including W-9 collection and documentation required for annual 1099 reporting.
Maintain all paid bill files and annually box up for retention.
Follow established controls for vendor setup, banking-change requests, and payment documentation.
Maintain list of Non-PO recurring expenses.
Maintain and confirm monthly receipt of freight bills on machine orders.
Assist with analyzing Temp timesheets and transmitting to agencies.

Broader Accounting Support

Assist the Controller with month-end close procedures, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Provide cross-trained backup for accounts receivable cash application and cash receipts support, shipping of equipment orders and processing, and monthly recording of shop withdrawals from inventory.
Help document, maintain, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
Assist with recurring reporting and ad hoc analysis requests from Finance leadership.

What You Bring

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Two or more years of hands-on accounts payable or general accounting experience in a business environment.
Proficiency with accounting software; prior ERP experience preferred (Sage 100 experience a plus).
Comfortable using Excel for sorting, filtering, reconciliations, and basic formulas.
