GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Freedom House Detroit is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and dependable Grant Writing & Management Specialist to lead the full lifecycle of grants from identifying opportunities and writing compelling proposals to implementing, monitoring, and successfully closing out awarded grants.
This role is more than grant writing; it is about driving results. Dependability, accountability, and attention to detail are essential, as this position plays a critical role in securing funding and ensuring program success.
This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and works collaboratively with leadership across all departments to ensure funded programs are implemented effectively, remain compliant, and achieve meaningful outcomes for the individuals and families we serve.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 6 years of experience in grant writing, evaluation, and nonprofit reporting
- Strong understanding of logic models, theories of change, and outcomes measurement
- Proficiency in Google Suite applications, especially Docs and Sheets (Word & Excel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and reporting deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to translate qualitative and quantitative data into clear, compelling narratives
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff across departments
- Experience with immigrant, refugee, housing, or human services programs preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Write and/or review all proposals using approved agency language and values.
- Manage all information and regulations on each grant award.
- Lead on the implementation of each awarded grant and check on Key Performance Indicators throughout the program period.
- Develop and maintain program documentation, including SOPs, workflows, and service delivery guidelines.
- Create and manage outcome metrics and reporting schedules for all funded programs.
- Work with data and finance departments to ensure reporting systems are set up for each grant.
- Prepare accurate and timely programmatic reports for funders, partners, leadership, and the Board.
- Monitor program performance against grant deliverables and identify risks or gaps in compliance.
- Analyze program data to assess effectiveness and recommend program improvements.
- Lead program audits, site visits, and monitoring reviews by preparing required documentation.
- Work with the communications team to ensure that agency language is up to date and appropriate throughout all communication vehicles, including proposals and reporting.
- Work with the development team to strategize how to approach funders that cross departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
