General Ledger Bookkeeper

DSI Management, LLC is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and organized General Ledger Bookkeeper to join our Financial team. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with experience in general ledger accounting, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, financial reporting, balance sheet analysis, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and Microsoft Excel.

Position Summary

The General Ledger Bookkeeper provides accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and administrative support to help ensure the accurate and timely maintenance of DSI Management's financial records. This position assists with general ledger transactions, bank and credit card reconciliations, expense accruals, balance sheet accounts, fixed assets, depreciation and amortization schedules, prepaid expenses, intercompany transactions, financial statements, and supporting accounting documentation.

The successful candidate will possess strong attention to detail, organizational skills, financial accuracy, and the ability to manage both electronic and paper accounting records and files while meeting established reporting deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Perform and support daily and monthly general ledger (GL) accounting and bookkeeping activities.
Prepare and maintain expense accruals, account summaries, journal-supporting documentation, and financial records.
Assist with the preparation and completion of bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
Assist with applicable tax filings and workers' compensation filings.
Prepare required LYNX and Lake County Transportation reports.
Update, reconcile, and maintain prepaid insurance and other prepaid expense schedules.
Record, monitor, and reconcile intercompany transactions.
Maintain fixed asset schedules and related depreciation and amortization schedules.
Assist with balance sheet account analysis, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial documentation.
Review and monitor cash and credit card transaction reports.
Prepare credit card charge summaries and reconciliations.
Reconcile FrontStream credit card statements to bank statements and supporting records.
Review Resident Trust activity to ensure compliance with established purchasing policies and procedures.
Maintain and monitor resident contracts and monthly general ledger documentation.
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements for assigned companies.
Review financial records for accuracy, completeness, proper documentation, and appropriate account classification.
Maintain organized electronic accounting records, digital files, paper financial records, supporting documents, and physical filing systems.
Scan, file, retrieve, organize, and maintain financial documentation as required.
Assist with accounting research, document retrieval, financial audits, reporting, and other financial projects as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality of financial, resident, and organizational information.
Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, company policies, and documentation standards.
Provide professional and courteous communication when working with team members, management, residents, families, and other stakeholders.
Perform other accounting, bookkeeping, administrative, and financial support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement.
Previous experience preparing bank reconciliations.
Knowledge of general ledger accounting, bookkeeping, accounting data entry, and financial recordkeeping.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.
Strong organizational, filing, documentation, and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet monthly accounting and reporting deadlines.
Ability to maintain and retrieve electronic and paper financial records.
Professional written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a Financial team.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Previous healthcare accounting or healthcare industry experience preferred.
Experience with monthly financial close and financial statement preparation.
Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis.
Experience maintaining fixed assets, depreciation, amortization, and prepaid expense schedules.
Experience with intercompany accounting and reconciliations.
Experience managing financial documentation in both electronic and paper filing systems.

Testing Requirement: Candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process will be required to successfully complete Microsoft Excel and accounting skills assessments to demonstrate proficiency in the core competencies required for this position.

Work Environment

This position is performed primarily in a professional indoor office environment and involves frequent computer use. Team members will work with both electronic and paper financial files, requiring strong organization, confidentiality, records management, and document retrieval skills. The position also involves occasional standing, walking, bending, filing, reaching, and lifting or carrying items up to approximately 35 pounds.
