Morgan County Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Aide to join the team at Priceville Elementary School in Morgan County, Alabama. A typical day as a Special Education Aide at Priceville Elementary begins with reviewing the classroom schedule and connecting with the lead teacher to understand the day's instructional plan and any specific student needs. Throughout the morning, you might assist small groups of students with reading or math activities, help prepare adapted instructional materials, and provide one-on-one support to reinforce skills introduced by the teacher. During transitions, lunch, or recess, you'll supervise students to ensure their safety and well-being. In the afternoon, you may assist with assessments, help facilitate enrichment or remediation activities, and support students in developing positive social interactions with peers. - Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and the physical classroom environment to support diverse learning needs
- Support the planning and preparation of group and individual learning activities under the direction of the lead teacher
- Supervise students during both instructional and non-instructional periods, including transitions, lunch, and recess
- Provide individual and small-group instructional support to reinforce and extend skills taught by the classroom teacher
- Deliver enrichment and remedial assistance to students as required, adapting support strategies to meet individual learning goals
- Assist with testing and evaluation activities to help determine and document student progress
- Participate in activities that foster positive student interaction and a supportive instructional environment
- Communicate regularly with lead teachers and special education staff to coordinate student support strategies and report observations
- Review the classroom schedule and connect with the lead teacher daily to understand the instructional plan and specific student needs
- Help prepare adapted instructional materials tailored to students with disabilities
- Ensure student safety and well-being during transitions, lunch, and recess
- Assist with assessments and help facilitate enrichment or remediation activities as directed

- ! Ability to lift heavy objects up to 65 lbs. to assist students with physical needs
- ! High school diploma or equivalent (to meet paraprofessional standards)
- ! Meet ALSDE requirements for paraprofessionals working in Alabama schools
- Prior experience working with children in a school, childcare, or therapeutic setting
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and special education support strategies
- Associate's degree or higher in education, child development, psychology, or a related field
- Reliability, adaptability, and readiness to step in on short notice for on-call shifts
- Ability to communicate regularly with lead teachers and special education staff to coordinate support and report observations
- Skill in providing one-on-one and small-group instructional support to reinforce skills taught by the teacher
- Ability to assist with the planning and preparation of group and individual learning activities under teacher direction
- Capability to prepare instructional materials and organize the physical classroom environment for diverse learners
