We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our Engineering Services team. This role plays a key part in supporting facility capital improvement projects while also providing structural engineering expertise for a variety of industrial initiatives. The ideal candidate is a seasoned engineer capable of independently managing all phases of structural design work within industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work for major or moderate-scope projects.
Perform structural design using conventional engineering practices, addressing challenges such as material limitations, conflicting requirements, and complex coordination needs.
Apply broad knowledge of industrial structural design, along with an understanding of related disciplines, to recommend improvements and procedural changes.
Prepare structural calculations, drawings, reports, and documentation with accuracy and completeness.
Supervise or guide junior engineers and technicians on assigned tasks as needed.
Review project progress, provide updates to leadership, and ensure engineering work aligns with project goals and safety requirements.
Travel to project sites (up to 25%) to perform inspections, evaluations, and coordination activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
Master’s degree is considered equivalent to one year of experience.
10+ years of structural engineering experience in industrial or related environments.
Strong knowledge of steel, concrete, and foundation design; familiarity with masonry and wood structures is a plus.
Ability to independently execute structural calculations, design tasks, and project deliverables.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report preparation.
Professional Engineer (PE) license with structural specialty or Structural Engineer (SE) license from a state with separate structural licensing requirements.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% for site visits.
