Job Title: Education Coordinator
Department: Community Corrections
Reports To: Assistant Director
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Principal Function: The Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Community Corrections Department continuing education for offenders in the system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Instructs, schedules, and facilitates all evidence-based offender education programs for adults and juveniles to include all online classes.
2. Instructs, facilitates, and oversees the R.I.S.Q. program.
3. Provides liaison services between the program, schools, Courts and Probation Offices.
4. Maintains a productive learning environment, communicates with the Assistant Director on any special needs or supplies.
5. Conducts all program intakes for offender education and the R.I.S.Q. program and provides ongoing educational assistance.
6. Provides instruction for the Teen Intervention Program.
7. Prepares quarterly education program data reports; daily individual R.I.S.Q. progress reports; maintains all adult and juvenile program statistical data and offender completion and progress reports.
8. Assists with office responsibilities including; organizing staff meetings and training; requesting and observing drug screens and alcohol testing as necessary.
9. Completes administrative duties to include: attending meetings, reviewing reports, completing various reports, answering inquiries, etc., as needed.
10. Maintains an effective communication process with the Assistant Director.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a related field plus three-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience at the discretion of the Advisory Board. Certification in all Evidence Based Programs as determined by the Indiana Department of Corrections. Certification in the Risk/Needs assessments as needed.
Other Skills and Abilities: The following skills and abilities are either required or desired.
· Computer software skills required include: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· The ability to memorize and define the eight (8) Evidence Based Principles as well as normal program practice.
· The ability to work rapidly for long periods, manage and coordinate multiple workloads, work on several tasks at the same time, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions often under time pressure is required.
· A general understanding of report writing, while paying close attention to detail is required.
· The ability to maintain and cultivate positive relationship with offenders, citizens and other County departments is required.
· The ability to attend meetings and conferences, as needed.
· The ability to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, scanner, fax machine, and other office equipment is desired.
· The ability to speak, read and write in English is required. Spanish is desired.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is exposed to the risk of electrical shock when working with office equipment; and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn on the job at all times in accordance with the department’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).
While the offices of Adams County are usually open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, this position may require work beyond these hours and on the weekends. It may also require the ability to drive a County-owned vehicle. Thus, a valid driver’s license is required. Incumbent shall have no prior felony criminal record.
