Full Job Description

Full Time, Non-Exempt – IMMEDIATE OPENING

Day Shift – OT and Saturdays required upon demand.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour with higher pay rate possible for highly experienced CNC background and experience.

Job Summary:

GVMI is seeking a competent CNC Operator to use computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately to perform a variety of functions. This position is important since some materials are not easy to shape or handle manually or with conventional equipment. This associate may operate manual machinery such as Bridgeport, lathe, drill press, steel processing band saw and other manual machinery in a manufacturing setting. Prior experience with CNC lathe, 4-axis mill, 5-axis mill, HAAS, waterjet table and burn table strongly preferred. This associate will be reading blueprint drawings, setting up machines, use measuring tools and machining to print with minimal supervision. The goal is to produce high quality materials by programming machines to perform the right operations.

Essential Functions:

· Understand setup and machining parts in position on machines, indexing, milling, boring parts to proper dimensional requirements in drawings.

· Machine by instructions, blue prints, and work orders for the job, plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.

· Be able to machine with minimal error and hold machining tolerances within .001”

· Takes accurate measurements and adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.

· Accurately and efficiently process steel and other materials for use in fabrication

· Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.

Job Qualifications:

· CNC machining or similar experience is required

· Work involves varying degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable.

· Attention and care required to prevent injury to others while performing job duties

· Working knowledge of shop tools, manual machinery, and operating a forklift and overhead crane

· Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working in overhead structures.

· General shop exposure requires PPE such as safety glasses and steel toed boots

Position Qualifications:

· Detail Oriented While Working Under Pressure: Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task while being under stressful situations.

· Adaptability: Ability to quickly recover from, and/or adjust to change and troubleshooting complex technical issues.

· Safety: Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner according to OSHA and company guidelines. Wearing all required PPE when required

Requirements:

· 1-3 year’s manufacturing shop experience.

· Pass written blue print test.

· High School Graduate or GED completion.
