Full Job Description

Human Resources Administrator The Human Resources Administrator provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Human Resources department. This role is responsible for assisting employees, managers, applicants, and members of the public by supporting a wide range of HR functions, including benefits administration, payroll coordination, employee records management, onboarding, training support, workers' compensation administration, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling confidential information while delivering exceptional customer service. This is a Contract position located in Evanston, IL. Responsibilities

Provide administrative support for all areas of human resources, including employee relations, benefits administration, payroll coordination, recruiting support, training, and HR operations.
Maintain employee records and personnel files, ensuring all documentation is accurate, confidential, and compliant with company policies and applicable regulations.
Utilize HRIS systems to enter, update, retrieve, and generate employee information, reports, compensation data, benefits information, and other HR-related records.
Serve as a primary point of contact for employees by responding to questions regarding company policies, leave programs, benefits, workers' compensation, training opportunities, retirement plans, and other HR programs.
Administer employee benefit programs, including enrollments, status changes, terminations, COBRA administration, open enrollment activities, and routine benefit inquiries.
Coordinate onboarding activities, new hire documentation, training schedules, employee orientations, and employment-related correspondence.
Assist with recruiting efforts by scheduling interviews, coordinating testing activities, communicating with applicants, and supporting hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.
Process payroll information, review and verify timesheets, coordinate with payroll personnel, and maintain payroll-related records.
Support workers' compensation administration by maintaining claim documentation, processing reports, tracking claim activity, and distributing required materials.
Process invoices, maintain payment records, and coordinate administrative transactions related to department operations.
Prepare reports, correspondence, presentations, meeting materials, and other documentation in support of Human Resources initiatives.
Coordinate department meetings, training sessions, and employee programs, including scheduling, logistics, and communication activities.
Respond to employment verifications, personnel record requests, subpoenas, and other requests for employee information while following confidentiality guidelines.
Maintain office operations by managing correspondence, answering phones, greeting visitors, ordering supplies, distributing mail, and organizing departmental records.
Assist with policy interpretation and ensure compliance with personnel policies, procedures, labor agreements, and applicable employment regulations.
Train and support new Human Resources staff on departmental systems, procedures, and administrative processes.
Participate in special projects and provide support for organization-wide training, compliance, and employee engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; additional education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of three years of administrative, human resources, or office management experience.
Experience working with HRIS platforms, payroll systems, and employee record management.
Strong knowledge of human resources administration, benefits programs, payroll processes, and employment practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Applications, spreadsheets, databases, and other business software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare professional correspondence and reports.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
Strong customer service, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with managers, employees, vendors, and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting benefits administration, workers' compensation, leave administration, or payroll functions.
Knowledge of employment laws, labor agreements, personnel policies, and HR compliance requirements.
Experience with HRIS reporting, records management, and employee data administration.
Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
