Full Job Description

Job Overview

The Operations Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing business and operational data across multiple departments to provide actionable insights into performance, efficiency, costs, and opportunities for improvement. This role will work closely with department leaders and management to develop KPIs, build reporting tools, identify operational issues, and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

Analyze company-wide operational data to evaluate departmental performance, identify trends, bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across Operations, Procurement, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Warehouse, and other departments.
Establish and track department-specific performance metrics, service levels, productivity, quality, costs, and operational efficiency.
Analyze purchasing, inventory, pricing, sales, fulfillment, customer service, warehouse, and other operational data to identify trends and performance gaps.
Build, automate, and maintain recurring reports and dashboards using SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
Monitor data quality and integrity and ensure accurate and consistent reporting across business systems.
Conduct root-cause analysis to understand performance issues, operational delays, cost increases, and process inefficiencies.
Partner with department leaders and cross-functional teams to provide data-driven insights and support business decisions.
Identify cost-saving opportunities, productivity improvements, and operational risks based on data analysis.
Analyze supplier, customer, marketplace, department, and operational performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
Support forecasting, budgeting, capacity planning, inventory planning, and other operational planning activities.
Evaluate the effectiveness of business processes and recommend improvements based on quantitative analysis.
Assist in establishing standardized KPIs, reporting procedures, data definitions, and performance measurement frameworks across departments.
Automate manual reporting and data processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
Prepare management reports and presentations that clearly communicate performance trends, key findings, risks, and recommendations.
Perform ad hoc analysis and investigations in response to operational or business questions from management.
Track the implementation and impact of process improvements and measure results over time.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Supply Chain Management, OR 5 years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, operations analysis, or a similar analytical role.
Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query and/or Power Pivot, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
Strong SQL skills, including the ability to work with multiple tables and complex queries.
Power BI or Tableau dashboard development.
Experience measuring departmental productivity, operational efficiency, costs, quality, and service levels.
Experience identifying cost-saving opportunities and improving business processes.
Ability to explain complex data and business insights in a simple, actionable way.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, patterns, inefficiencies, and performance gaps.
Experience developing and monitoring KPIs and performance metrics across multiple departments or business functions.
Experience with data cleaning, validation, reconciliation, and quality control.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Operations, Procurement, Sales, Customer Success, Finance, Warehouse, and other departments.
Experience automating recurring reports and manual processes is strongly preferred.
Experience working with ERP, WMS, CRM, e-commerce, procurement, or other business systems is a plus.
