This position provides leadership and oversight for the maintenance, repair, and operation of all district facilities and grounds, ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained learning environments for students, staff, and the community.The Director of Maintenance will lead a dedicated maintenance team while managing preventative maintenance programs, capital improvement projects, contractor relationships, building systems, and facility operations across the district. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, strong communication skills, fiscal responsibility, and a commitment to providing outstanding service.Essential Responsibilities: Leadership & SupervisionProvide leadership, direction, supervision, and evaluation of district maintenance personnel.Foster a positive, collaborative, and customer-service oriented culture.Develop work schedules and assign daily maintenance priorities.Coordinate emergency response efforts related to facility issues.Promote a safe and efficient work environment.Facility OperationsOversee the maintenance and repair of all district buildings, athletic facilities, and grounds.Ensure all HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, roofing, and building systems are properly maintained.Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to maximize the life of district assets.Coordinate seasonal maintenance activities including snow removal, landscaping, and athletic field support.Maintain district equipment and vehicles assigned to the maintenance department.Project ManagementCoordinate capital improvement projects from planning through completion.Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants.Monitor project timelines, budgets, and quality of work.Assist in planning future facility improvements aligned with district priorities.Financial ManagementDevelop and monitor departmental budgets.Obtain competitive quotes and oversee purchasing of maintenance equipment and supplies.Monitor inventory and ensure cost-effective use of district resources.Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.Safety & ComplianceEnsure district facilities comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Coordinate required inspections and corrective actions.Maintain compliance with workplace safety standards.Assist with emergency preparedness planning and building security initiatives.Ensure proper documentation related to facility maintenance and regulatory compliance.CollaborationWork closely with district administrators, custodial staff, transportation, technology, athletics, and teaching staff.Build positive relationships with vendors and community partners.Respond promptly to facility concerns and service requests.Support district events requiring facility preparation and operational assistance.Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related fields preferred.Equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible maintenance leadership experience considered.Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in facility maintenance or operations preferred.Experience managing commercial or educational facilities.Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building automation systems.Experience with project management and construction oversight.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.Demonstrated experience managing budgets and contracts.Valid Ohio driver's license.Desired Characteristics: The ideal candidate will: Demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment.Be a visible and collaborative leader.Take pride in maintaining exceptional learning environments.Be proactive in identifying and solving facility needs.Communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and community members.Exhibit strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Lead with a service-first mindset.Value teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement.Support the mission and vision of Bryan City Schools.Why Bryan City Schools?Bryan City Schools is committed to providing outstanding educational experiences in facilities that inspire learning, innovation, and community pride.
