Full Job Description

Company Overview
Isthmus Eats is Madison and Dane County's local meal kit company! We offer meal kits and prepared meals via a weekly subscription and delivery service to anyone living or working in Dane County. Started in 2018 and located in Middleton, we make, from scratch, over 5,000 meals each week and our in-house delivery team hand-delivers them to our over 1,500 happy subscribers. We offer a completely different menu each and every week, so no two weeks are the same here!

Job Overview
We are seeking a team member to join our cook kitchen team which makes our fully cooked prepared (aka "Heat & Eat") meals. This position, under the guidance of the Head Chef, performs all necessary kitchen tasks including ingredient inspection, food washing/processing/cooking, meal packaging, and any necessary cleaning tasks.

Duties

Follow recipes, instructions, and guidance from Head Chef
Inspect and ensure all food is fresh and of high quality
Ensure proper temperatures and procedures when cooking, cooling, and storing food
Proficiently perform a variety of kitchen tasks including food cleaning & processing, mixing, measuring, units converting & calculations
Proficiently and safely use knives for a variety of food prep including slicing, dicing, trimming & peeling
Proficiently and safely use a variety of kitchen equipment such as grills, ovens, mixers & dishwashers
Keep all workstations and kitchen equipment clean, organized & sanitized
Assist Head Chef with recipe development, testing, ingredient sourcing & menu planning

Qualifications

2 year experience in a fast-paced culinary environment
ServSafe or Food Handler’s Certification preferred
Ability to follow recipes and ask questions when unsure
Ability to take feedback well
Excellent time management skills
Excellent multi-tasking skills
Good personal hygiene
Reliable transportion to Middleton
Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Schedule

Please note our atypical work week below (TUESDAYS and WEDNESDAYS are our days off)

Mondays: 9AM-5PM
Tuesdays: OFF
Wednesdays: OFF
Thursdays: 9AM-5PM
Fridays: 9AM-5PM
Saturdays: 9AM-5PM
Sundays: 9AM-5PM

Compensation

Compensation starts at $22.00-$25.00/hour (depending on experience). In addition, we offer 3 weeks paid vacation per year (FULL TIME EMPLOYEES ONLY), health fund stipend (FULL TIME EMPLOYEES ONLY), 401(k) benefits with company match (FULL TIME EMPLOYEES ONLY), annual merit-based raises, shared tips, and 75% OFF our meal plans (that comes out to under $43.00 a week for 5 nights of dinners for a family of four).
