Position Purpose:

The Assistant Director of University Events supports learning by assisting the University Events department in the coordination of campus events. With the mission, vision, and core values of Aurora University central to the work, this position is an integral part of the University Events team and is a key member in helping achieve the university’s success.

Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of our service, learns and uses operating practices of the department and Aurora University.

Handles all information with tact and discretion and recognizes the confidential nature of university business.
Supports learning through performance of essential job functions and performing other duties and functions as necessary or as assigned, including voluntary participation in university committees, activities and events.

Essential Job Functions:

Assist the University Events leadership in planning, supporting, and executing presidential and other high-level campus events.
Provide on-site support during key events.
Manage event registrations for Arts and Ideas and other special events.
Collaborate with outside vendors and other university departments.
Utilize the university’s centralized 25LivePro reservation system and the Smart Draw event diagram program.
Assist the University Events team with continuous process improvement for event management.

Essential Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience:

Demonstrated ability to set and consistently meet deadlines. minimum of three to five years of event coordination experience, preferably in higher education.

Skills:

Ability to work some evenings. holidays and weekends for university-sanctioned events
Ability to identify and solve problems
Strong enthusiasm, motivation, and drive
Prior event registration management experience is a plus
Ability to manage multiple projects and management skills to prioritize simultaneous events/projects.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents: the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external audiences
The ability to work independently and as a member of the University Events team
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills, proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit for long periods.
Ability to stand for periods.
Ability to move about campus.
Ability to use computer, telephone, email and office equipment.
Ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds.

The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.

Benefit-eligible positions offer excellent benefits including health, dental, life, vision, long term disability, a 403(b) retirement plan through TIAA, and tuition remission.

Vacation, personal, and sick leave are provided to eligible employees.

The university observes nine major holidays where the university is closed.
Tuition Assistance
Tuition assistance for AU undergraduate courses is available to eligible employees and eligible family members beginning the term following one (1) year of regular, full-time employment. Tuition assistance for graduate programs paid at 60% for employee following Senior Leadership approval.
Tuition Exchange Consortiums
AU is a member of the Tuition Exchange (TE) and the Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP) enabling full-time employees and eligible family members to be eligible for tuition assistance at more than 600 universities nationwide. Eligibility for the CIC-TEP and TE programs is one (1) year of regular, full-time employment as of 8/31.
