Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Phlebotomist - II to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples and other specimens from patients with precision and care, ensuring accurate laboratory testing and diagnosis. Your expertise in laboratory procedures, patient service, and specimen processing will contribute significantly to patient care and clinical laboratory operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where your skills directly impact patient outcomes and support medical decision-making.

Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling using aseptic techniques to ensure specimen integrity
Collect, label, and process specimens accurately according to established protocols
Assist in preparing specimens for laboratory testing, including centrifugation and storage as needed
Maintain detailed documentation of all procedures, patient information, and specimen handling in compliance with privacy regulations
Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and ensuring comfort during collection
Monitor vital signs when necessary and recognize signs of patient distress or adverse reactions during procedures
Adhere strictly to laboratory safety standards, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection control practices

Qualifications

Proven experience in laboratory procedures, techniques, or medical laboratory work with a focus on phlebotomy and specimen collection
Knowledge of human physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical laboratory processes
Certification or training in phlebotomy, with current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred
Familiarity with hospital or clinical laboratory environments and experience with specimen processing equipment
Ability to lift heavy objects safely when handling supplies or specimens; physical stamina required for prolonged standing or walking
Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centered approach to care
Basic understanding of aseptic technique, blood sampling procedures, and vital signs monitoring
