Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our tax planning, compliance, and reporting efforts. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to oversee complex tax strategies, ensure regulatory compliance, and support financial decision-making processes. As a Tax Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize tax positions while adhering to all applicable laws and standards. Your expertise will help drive our organization’s financial health and growth, empowering us to navigate the evolving tax landscape confidently.

Duties

Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies including estate planning, corporate accounting, and regulatory compliance accounting to optimize financial outcomes.
Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and securities law requirements.
Manage audits related to tax filings, liaising with auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and resolve issues efficiently.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other relevant regulations affecting financial reporting and accounting practices.
Provide guidance on complex transactions including mergers & acquisitions, asset management, private equity investments, and financial sales initiatives.
Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliation, account reconciliation, and general ledger accounting to support accurate financial report writing and interpretation.
Lead efforts in tax planning related to wills, trusts & estate law, non-profit accounting, and other specialized areas to ensure strategic alignment with organizational goals.
Utilize advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar tools for bookkeeping, asset management, payroll processing, and financial statement preparation.
Support the implementation of internal controls related to SOX compliance and assist in training staff on technical accounting standards including GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.
Analyze financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and technical accounting principles to inform sound decision-making across departments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
Extensive experience in public accounting or corporate accounting with a strong focus on tax experience; minimum of five years preferred.
Proven expertise in estate planning, regulatory compliance accounting, GAAP standards, and technical accounting practices.
Familiarity with securities law, LIHTC programs, non-profit accounting standards, and auditing procedures.
Proficiency in financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero or similar platforms; strong analysis skills with account reconciliation and financial analysis experience required.
Knowledge of mergers & acquisitions processes along with asset management strategies is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of financial report writing and interpretation coupled with excellent analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
