Job Purpose: To provide a safe, structured environment within the Bridge Shelter for homeless individuals. The Bridge Coordinator is responsible to assist clients reach their maximum potential while at the Neighborhood Center of West Volusia (NHCWV). The incumbent will link participants to their case managers for education, employment, budgeting strategies / money management, and addressing any healthcare or social issues that may lead to homelessness, criminal behavior, or otherwise de-stabilizing lifestyles.
Duties and Responsibilities

Intake and Discharge:
- Administer drug screening (urine analysis and breathalyzer).

Supply toiletries and linens.

Conduct background check.

Provide referrals to other agencies as needed.

Instruct new clients on agency and Bridge rules and guidelines.

Coordinate discharges with the Bridge Shelter Director.
- Security:
- Perform rounds in the vicinity of the Bridge Shelter and adjacent agency campus to promote the safety of the agency, staff, volunteers, and clients.

Maintain a safe secure environment for all clients and staff.

Monitors activities of the Bridge from reviewing shift logs and responds to needs appropriately.
- Environment:
- Responsible for overall cleanliness and physical organization of the Bridge Shelter.

Responsible to report maintenance related issues to the Bridge Shelter Director or Chief Operating Officer in a timely manner.

Coordinate with the Bridge Shelter Director for specific environmental related tasks.
- Other:
- Enter data in log book.

Delegating tasks to appropriate team members per Bridge Director.

Supports team members by serving as a resource for analyzing and solving problems and staying abreast of current issues and theories within the field.

Track the status of each client’s performance and resolve conflicts or issues with them before they escalate.

Answer phones / check messages regularly and report accordingly.

Guide and instruct residents.

Assists in scheduling volunteers and ensures volunteers are assigned appropriate tasks and projects.

Support regular case management with Bridge Shelter clients and document in HMIS file where appropriate.

Maintains regular front desk duties that include but are not limited to answering phone calls, taking messages, accepting donations, handling mail, handing out bus pass.

Safeguard agency keys and assigned equipment.
Qualifications, Experience, and Abilities:

Education:
- A minimum of a high school diploma.

Associate’s / Bachelor’s degree preferred.
