Garage Door Installer

JOB SUMMARY
The Overhead Door Company of Daytona Beach is seeking an experienced Garage Door Installer or someone who is willing to learn, who is dependable, reliable, and a self starter.
The Garage Door Installer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and professional installation of residential and commercial garage doors, openers, and related hardware on new construction and replacement projects. This position works as part of an install crew (or independently on smaller jobs) to deliver high-quality installations that meet manufacturer specifications, building codes, and our standards for craftsmanship and customer service.
We're open to both experienced installers and motivated people looking to learn the trade. We'll train the right person from day one.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Installation Work:
- Install residential and commercial sectional garage doors, including tracks, springs, cables, rollers, hinges, and panels, per manufacturer specifications
- Install, wire, and program garage door openers, keypads, remotes, and accessories
- Mount tracks, brackets, and hardware square, level, and plumb to ensure proper door operation
- Tension torsion and extension springs safely and to manufacturer specs
- Test installed doors for smooth operation, proper balance, and safety reversal function before leaving the job site
Job Site & Customer Interaction:
- Arrive on time, in uniform, and prepared with the materials and tools required for the day's jobs
- Walk customers through completed installations, demonstrate opener and accessory operation, and answer questions
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during and after installation
- Coordinate with general contractors, builders, and other trades on new construction sites
- Represent the company professionally at all times
Administrative & Vehicle:
- Document completed work, materials used, and customer signatures in ServiceTitan field software
- Maintain assigned company vehicle in clean, organized, and operational condition
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report mechanical issues promptly
- Keep truck inventory stocked, accurately tracked, and replenished through the warehouse process
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and DOT regulations
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates need to:
(1) have a Florida Driver's License with 3 or less points over the last 2 years
(2) have reliable transportation to and from work for shifts starting at 6 a.m.
(3) pass a Drug Screen, DMV, and Background check
(4) be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs.
(5) show good customer service and communicate clearly in a respectful manner
(6) have construction knowledge with the ability to climb ladders, operate hand tools, forklifts, and scissor lifts
Preferred (not required):
- Prior garage door installation experience (residential or commercial)
- Background in construction, framing, carpentry, or a related trade
- Experience installing torsion spring systems and wiring residential or commercial openers
- Familiarity with new construction job sites and working alongside general contractors
- Experience with ServiceTitan or comparable field service software
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly lift and carry a minimum of 100 lbs.
- Frequently climb ladders, operate forklifts, and operate scissor lifts
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach overhead
- Work in confined spaces (garages, attic areas, mechanical rooms) as needed
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including Florida heat and humidity
- Use of company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) is required
