Turn a Backyard Vision Into a Project That Can Actually Be Built
Ashton Pools By Design is looking for an experienced Pool & Outdoor Living Sales Designer who can take a homeowner from the first conversation through design, presentation and sale.
This is not an entry-level design position, and it is not a traditional pool sales position.
We’re looking for someone who understands pools, outdoor living and residential construction and can combine that knowledge with strong design skills, technical confidence and the ability to work directly with high-end residential clients.
You’ll design the entire environment—not just the pool.
Our projects may include custom pools and spas, patios and hardscapes, outdoor kitchens, fire and water features, structures, landscaping, lighting and entertainment areas.
Your job is to bring those pieces together into one cohesive design that fits the client’s vision, property and budget—and can actually be built.
What You’ll Own: Client Consultation & Sales
- Meet directly with prospective clients to understand their vision, lifestyle, priorities and budget
- Conduct independent site visits and evaluate site conditions, opportunities and constraints
- Guide clients through the design process and help them make confident decisions
- Present designs, project options, proposals and pricing
- Manage client questions, design revisions and expectations
- Build trust throughout the process and confidently move qualified clients toward a signed contract
- Serve as the client’s primary point of contact throughout the sales and design phase
- Independently manage your sales and design pipeline and keep projects moving forward
Pool & Outdoor Living Design
- Design custom swimming pools, spas, and complete outdoor-living environments
- Create professional 2D and 3D designs and client presentations
- Use Structure Studios / Pool Studio as Ashton’s primary design platform
- Integrate pools with patios, hardscapes, outdoor kitchens, fire features, water features, structures, landscaping, lighting and entertainment areas
- Help clients select finishes and materials, including coping, tile, decking, hardscape materials and other design elements
- Revise concepts efficiently based on client feedback through final approval
- Balance creativity with budget, property constraints and construction feasibility
From Design to Construction
A beautiful rendering isn’t enough.
The project you sell has to work in the field.
You’ll collaborate with our estimating and construction teams throughout the design process to make sure scope, pricing and construction details align before a project is sold.
Once the contract is complete, you’ll provide construction with a clean, detailed handoff that includes approved designs, selections, scope and critical site information.

What You Bring:
We’re looking for an experienced professional who can step into this role with a strong foundation already in place.
Required
- 5+ years of professional experience in swimming pools, outdoor living, landscape design-build, hardscape design-build or a closely related luxury residential field
- Demonstrated experience designing pools and/or complex residential outdoor-living environments
- Strong understanding of residential site planning, grades, elevations, drainage and construction feasibility
- Strong understanding of pool, hardscape and/or outdoor-living construction
- Professional 2D and 3D design experience
- High level of computer proficiency and the ability to learn and adapt to new design and business software quickly
- Proven client-facing sales experience in pools, outdoor living, landscape design-build, construction or luxury residential services
- Experience presenting designs and proposals directly to homeowners
- Experience discussing project budgets and pricing directly with clients
- Strong understanding of how design decisions affect scope, pricing and construction
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong organization, follow-through and attention to detail
- Ability to independently manage multiple clients, designs and revisions at the same time
- Valid driver’s license and ability to visit local client properties and jobsites
Strongly Preferred
- Proficiency in Structure Studios / Pool Studio
- Experience personally taking pool or outdoor-living projects from initial consultation through signed contract
- Proven success selling high-value residential projects
- Experience working with high-end residential clients
- Knowledge of pool finishes, coping, tile, hardscapes, structures, landscaping and outdoor-living materials

Compensation
Base Salary: $90,000–$110,000, based on experience
This position also includes performance-based compensation tied to individual sales responsibility and production.
For an exceptional candidate with a proven history of independently designing and selling high-end pool and outdoor-living projects, we’re prepared to discuss compensation that reflects that level of experience and performance.
