Full Job Description

Pike Creek Mortgage is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of agency and investor guidelines, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional service to both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of mortgage underwriting experience
Experience using Encompass Loan Origination System (LOS)
Working knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan programs
Analyze borrower income, assets, credit, and collateral to determine loan eligibility and compliance with investor and regulatory requirements
Review loan files and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to underwriting guidelines
Issue loan approvals, conditions, suspensions, and denials in a timely manner
Review and clear underwriting conditions to facilitate loan closings
Maintain current knowledge of agency, investor, and regulatory guidelines
Communicate underwriting decisions clearly and effectively with loan officers, processors, and management
Respond to quality control audits and post-closing reviews as needed
Generate and manage daily underwriting pipeline reports to ensure service level expectations are met
Work collaboratively with processors, loan officers, real estate agents, title companies, attorneys, and other third-party partners
Exercise sound judgment and decision-making while balancing risk and customer service
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
FHA, VA, and USDA underwriting certifications preferred or willingness to obtain within one year of employment
