Hours: 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM, Monday - Thursday (depending on class schedule)

Job Description:
The Medical Assistant Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the evening Medical Assistant program at Technical College of the Rockies (TCR). This position focuses on preparing students with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional behaviors required for entry-level employment in healthcare settings. The instructor supports student success through effective teaching, skills training, and evaluation while maintaining alignment with program standards and industry expectations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certification or credential in Medical Assisting or closely related field
- Minimum of 4,000 hours of relevant industry experience (within the past 5 years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of clinical and administrative medical assisting practices
- Effective communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring experience.
- Experience working with secondary, postsecondary, or adult learners.
- Experience with instructional technology and multiple instructional delivery methods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instruction and Student Learning
- Deliver high-quality instruction using effective classroom, laboratory, clinical, and/or work-based learning methodologies.
- Teach all curriculum, competencies, standards, and learning outcomes required by approved course syllabi and program approval.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and promote student engagement.
- Evaluate student performance through written, practical, and performance-based assessments.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback that supports student growth and achievement.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and productive learning environment that promotes student success.
- Student Support and Classroom Management
- Foster a positive classroom culture built on professionalism, accountability, respect, and safety.
- Maintain appropriate classroom management and enforce College policies and student conduct expectations.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, ethical behavior, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Communicate regularly with students regarding academic progress, attendance, and performance.
- Collaborate with Student Services, Program Coordinators, and College administration to support student success and retention.
- Program Operations and Compliance
- Maintain accurate student attendance, grades, competency records, and required documentation using the College's student information systems.
- Ensure the curriculum remains aligned with College requirements, program approvals, the Colorado Common Course Numbering System (CCNS), where applicable, and accrediting agency standards.
- Maintain program equipment, instructional materials, supplies, and inventory.
- Monitor laboratory and classroom safety while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
- Complete required reports, documentation, and administrative tasks accurately and on time.
- Obtain and maintain all required instructional credentials, certifications, and licenses.
- Program Development and Industry Engagement
- Participate in Advisory Committee meetings and assist with implementation of committee recommendations.
- Maintain relationships with business and industry partners to ensure the curriculum reflects current workforce needs.
- Participate in curriculum review and continuous program improvement initiatives.
- Assist with student recruitment, retention, and program promotion activities.
- Support accreditation, program approval, and compliance activities as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Physical requirements vary by instructional program. Instructors may be required to stand for extended periods, demonstrate technical skills, operate industry-specific equipment, lift instructional materials or equipment, and supervise students in classroom, laboratory, clinical, or shop environments. - Record attendance daily.
- Maintain student grades and progress records in accordance with College expectations.
- Read and respond to College communications promptly.
- Attend faculty, department, advisory committee, and College meetings.

- Promote the Technical College of the Rockies and assigned program(s) within the community.
- Support College initiatives and strategic goals.
- Adhere to all College, District, and applicable state and federal policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay: $32.05 - $44.11 per hour
