Structural Designer

Location: Lake Mary, FL

About the Opportunity

SkySource Solutions is seeking a talented Structural Designer to support large-scale industrial and energy projects with one of our top clients.

This is a direct hire opportunity offering long-term stability, competitive compensation, and the chance to work on complex structural systems supporting power generation and heavy industrial facilities.

What You’ll Do

Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models using Tekla Structures and SmartPlant 3D
Design and model:
Structural steel frameworks
Equipment support structures
Platforms, ladders, and access systems
Produce:
General arrangement drawings
Steel framing layouts
Fabrication and detailing drawings
Material take-offs
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (piping, mechanical, electrical, civil) to:
Resolve clashes
Ensure constructability and proper clearances
Participate in model reviews (30%, 60%, 90%)
Support modular design efforts including:
Transport
Lifting and erection planning
Update models based on engineering changes and project requirements
Ensure designs comply with applicable standards (AISC, AWS, IBC)

What We’re Looking For

Required:

4–5 years of experience as a Structural Designer or Structural Modeler
Strong proficiency in Tekla Structures
Experience modeling structural steel in industrial or manufacturing environments
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred:

Experience with SmartPlant 3D (S3D) or similar multi-discipline modeling tools
Background in:
Power generation
Oil & gas
Heavy industrial projects
Familiarity with structural codes such as AISC, AWS, or IBC
