Full Job Description

Position Summary: The Cooks are responsible for meal preparation and the routine cleaning of the kitchen area, equipment and utensils.

Performance Standards

1. Implement the decisions of your immediate supervisor or managers within your chain of command.

2. Each employee must make it a daily responsibility to check temperatures of food being served, freezers, and refrigerators. These temperature checks must be documented on the logs posted in these areas.

3. Exhibit sensitivity to the clients’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

4. Provide a positive role model for the clients at all times through appearance, attitude, and behavior.

5. Attend all in-services, General Staff Meetings, and meetings called by their supervisor.

6. Work harmoniously and effectively with co-workers.

7. Accomplish objectives and consistently produce satisfactory work.

8. Is faithful in reporting to work, staying on the job, and helping to meet institutional emergencies.

9. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

10. Comply with department guidelines, the Organization and Personnel Guidelines, and all expectations set by Gibault’s administration.

11. Prepare meals and menus as directed by the Supervisor of Food Services.

12. Maintain ServSafe Certification.

13. Serve meals as directed by the Supervisor of Food Services.

14. Clean the kitchen area, equipment and utensils as assigned.

15. Take regular inventory of own emotional well-being. Develop and adhere to a self-care plan to promote wellness and prevent burnout.

16. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Completed High School diploma or GED certificate.
Possession of a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Submit to and pass all required background checks.

Requirements

Knowledge – High School Diploma or GED required.

Errors or deficiencies in performance are correctable without significant expenditure of additional time, effort, and/or financial resources.

Demand for Mental and/or Visual Concentration - Level of Visual Concentration: The amount and extent of task detail with which the person must work, e.g., figures, paperwork, data, etc are occasional. Interruptions and Distracting Influences: For example people, phone calls, noise, and so forth are occasional. Pressures related to establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, or fulfilling scheduling requirements are periodic.

Working Environment - The job requires continuous physical exertion characterized by activities such as repeated bending, reaching, climbing, running, moderate lifting or fine manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination. The tasks performed on the job produce exposure to injuries. Such as minor burns, cuts, abrasions, or falls. Little or no health hazard is involved. Work is carried out in mildly disagreeable conditions. Factors such as temperature, noise or ventilation yield a perceptible level of discomfort.

Modified Working Environment – Not eligible.

Other - Possession of valid driver’s license and approved insurability status by Gibault’s insurance carrier Preferred.
