As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's Lending Tech organization, you will be based in Dallas, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, Birmingham, AL, Strongsville, OH or Phoenix, AZ.
Strong hands-on experience with Java 8, Java 11, and Java 17 development, including modern language features, performance optimization, and migration strategies.
Experience developing and maintaining Groovy scripts and Python applications for automation, integrations, data processing, scripting, and business rule implementations.
Experience with Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS) and Rules Engines such as Drools, Red Hat Decision Manager, IBM ODM, Blaze Advisor, or similar platforms.
Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), SOLID principles, Design Patterns, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and enterprise application architecture.
Experience designing and developing microservices, event-driven architectures, and cloud-native applications.
Extensive experience with system integrations, including REST APIs, SOAP services, message queues, event streaming, and middleware platforms.
BPMN modeling tools such as jBPM or Camunda.
JSON Schema, XSD, XML, and web services (RESTful and SOAP).
Experience building and documenting APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
Experience writing and executing API test cases using SOAPUI, Postman, and automated testing frameworks.
Experience building and maintaining Azure Data Factory pipelines.
Experience using Groovy scripting within CI/CD pipelines, workflow automation, BPM platforms, and enterprise application development.
Experience leveraging Python for data analysis, API development, automation, orchestration, ETL processes, and analytics solutions.
Experience with API security standards including OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSL/TLS, and enterprise authentication frameworks.
Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, code reviews, and DevOps best practices.

Define, develop, maintain, and enhance APIs and decision services that support enterprise business capabilities.
Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java 8, Java 11, and Java 17, following industry best practices and coding standards.
Develop and manage business rules and decision services using enterprise rules engines/BRMS platforms, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and business agility.
Design, develop, and maintain Groovy scripts and Python-based solutions to support application integrations, workflow automation, business rule execution, analytics, and operational processes.
Apply SOLID principles, design patterns, and modern software engineering practices to architect and deliver high-quality solutions.
Work with business and technology teams to define API contracts and service interfaces using Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
Design and implement integrations between internal and external systems using REST, SOAP, messaging platforms, event-driven frameworks, and data services.
Develop Python-based utilities, automation frameworks, and ETL components to streamline data movement, transformation, validation, and reporting processes.
Utilize Groovy scripting within BPM, workflow orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise applications to enhance process automation and operational efficiency.

Base Salary: $65,000.00 – $187,200.00
Salaries may vary based on geographic location, market data and on individual skills, experience, and education. This role is incentive eligible with the payment based upon company, business and/or individual performance.
Generally, this opening is expected to be posted for two business days from 02/26/2026, although it may be longer with business discretion.
