Job Description:
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist under general supervision, assists Physicians during specials/catheterization/electrophysiology lab procedures. Prepares room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient's condition, and provides routine and emergency patient care during procedures. Contributes to the orientation and training of personal. Assist in daily, monthly, and or quarterly quality control initiative through auditing and reporting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all- inclusive.
Assists Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral, and coronary, interventional, and thrombolytic therapy.
Prepares and maintains sterile fields for Lab procedures.
Manages and maintains images which may include stenosis analysis, formatting, and processing on both cardiac and peripheral cases.
Assists in Procedure Rooms and collects registry and quality data on appropriate forms.
Monitors patients' ECG, pressures, temperature, Impendences, while in Electrophysiology Lab while notifying physician of variances. Assist in running RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and record other procedural documentation.
Provides emergency procedures (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), defibrillation, etc.) as needed. Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff.
Performs pre- and post-procedure care and monitoring, and orients patients for specials/catheterization/electrophysiology procedures; answers related questions to make patient comfortable.
Maintains inventory of and orders Procedure Room supplies; ensures Procedure Rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is not expired.
Gathers catheterization data and prepares Procedure reports. Demonstrates customer service. Transports patients to and from Procedural area. *Duties may vary by facility.
On Call response requirements per facility/department policy.
