Full Job Description

Company Overview: Spectrum is a leading provider of human services for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our mission is to provide our clients with the greatest quality of life and the highest level of independence in the community. Spectrum has been serving Colorado for over 40 years in residential settings, Day Program, community and in-home support, and community integrated employment.

Position: Direct Care Provider for Clients with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Status: Part Time, up to 29 hours per week. No full time hours available for this position

Compensation: $20.00 an hour

Available Shifts:

Aurora (80015) Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00am-1:00pm (starting and ending time can be flexible)
Day Program in Lakewood (80227) Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00am-3:00pm
Additional hours available depending on location and availability.

Position Overview: As a direct care provider, you have the incredible opportunity to serve an amazing population with intellectual and developmental disabilities and make a real difference in their lives! You get to help them meet their goals, learn new skills and brighten their day

Job Functions:

Work with individual to meet their formal and informal goals, as well as service plan requirements to help create a meaningful life for others.
Supervise and monitor clients to always maintain safety and appropriate supervision levels.
Assist with feeding, changing and performing any activities of daily living required to ensure the health and safety of our participants. This includes verbal prompting, hand over hand and full physical assistance in the restroom.
Model and uphold ethical boundaries with clients and peers.
Transportation of individuals to and from Day Program or individual appointments might be required.
Solve problems, handle conflict, and be mentally adaptable in dealing with multiple individuals with challenging behaviors when in Day Program
Complete daily notes and goals tracking through Spectrum’s provided online tools and monthly paperwork.

Qualifications & Requirements

At least 18 years of age of older
High energy, positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills and a passion for caring for others.
Pass a Criminal and Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS) background check.
Valid Driver’s License, good driving record, reliable vehicle with proof of auto insurance. All providers might need to provide transportation in their own vehicle to either Day Program or errands in the community (all time spent transporting clients is part of compensation)
Able to provide all elements of hands-on care per client’s individual needs.
Dependable and Punctual
Possess a positive attitude, be compassionate and have aptitude to care for others. and the ability to communicate with peers and other staff members.

Physical Requirements

Able to provide all elements of hands-on care per client’s individual needs.
Bend, sit, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Work on your feet throughout the day and transfer clients, independently and with assistance.

Experience

At least one year working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.

Spectrum provides the following training initially and for recertification:

Initial Orientation and On-Boarding
CPR/First Aid/Universal Precautions
QMAP-Med Administration
Safety Care Behavioral Safety Training
