Controller

Location: Denver Metro Area, CO
Schedule: 100% Onsite M-F
Benefits: Medical, Dental, 401K, Vision, Life Insurance

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a growing organization. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the integrity of the company's financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cash management, and strategic financial support. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who enjoys improving processes, mentoring a team, and partnering with operations to drive business performance.

Responsibilities of Controller:

Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.

Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and present insights to executive leadership.

Develop and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.

Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.

Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and support strategic initiatives.

Oversee inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliations.

Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and relationships with external auditors.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiencies.

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.

Qualifications of Controller:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.

CPA preferred.

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.

Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.

Manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-based accounting experience strongly preferred.

Experience with ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
