Job Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Credentialing Specialist to join our healthcare administration team based in Colorado. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical credentialing processes, healthcare compliance standards, and payer enrollment procedures, specifically for the regions in Colorado. This role is essential in ensuring that healthcare providers are properly credentialed, licensed, and compliant with all relevant regulations, including CMS and NCQA standards. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong administrative skills, proficiency with healthcare software applications, and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of confidential information.

Responsibilities

Review and verify medical credentialing including behavioral health applications to ensure accuracy and completeness in accordance with healthcare industry standards.
Manage provider enrollment with various health insurance payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurers, ensuring timely submissions and follow-up.
Maintain and update provider databases using healthcare software applications, ensuring data integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Monitor credentialing renewal dates, track documentation expirations, and coordinate re-credentialing processes proactively.
Collaborate with medical offices, payers, and regulatory agencies to facilitate smooth credentialing workflows and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Ensure adherence to healthcare compliance policies, including JCAHO accreditation standards and NCQA accreditation requirements.
Handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion while maintaining organized records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Stay informed about changes in health regulation policies, state healthcare regulations, and CMS guidelines to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical credentialing within a managed care or healthcare setting.
Strong administrative experience within healthcare environments, including familiarity with medical office operations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare-specific software applications such as medical credentialing software and healthcare databases.
Knowledge of medical payer enrollment processes and medical credentialing application review procedures.
Understanding of health insurance policies, CMS regulations, JCAHO standards, NCQA accreditation standards, and state healthcare regulations.
Excellent knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare compliance requirements related to provider credentialing.
Experience managing databases related to provider credentials and contract management within a healthcare context.
Ability to handle confidential information securely while maintaining meticulous records for audit purposes.
