Full Job Description

We are seeking an Operations Technician to join our team as we prepare to open a state-of-the-art, independent emergency and specialty hospital in south Denver in 2026. We will offer 24/7 emergency care and a full range of specialty services.

Job Summary

The Operations Technician is a key operational support role responsible for maintaining the hospital’s inventory systems, vendor relationships, facility coordination, and day-to-day operational functionality. Reporting directly to the Hospital Director, this individual will play a critical role in ensuring the hospital remains organized, efficient, properly supplied, and operationally prepared to support exceptional patient care.

The ideal candidate brings strong veterinary operational knowledge, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment. This role requires a proactive and solutions-oriented individual who can effectively manage inventory levels, coordinate facility repairs and maintenance, and collaborate across departments to support hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Purchasing

·Manage hospital inventory levels across all departments while maintaining alignment with operational budgets established by the Hospital Director, with a heavy focus on managing cost of goods sold (COGS)

·Order medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment, office supplies, and operational materials

·Monitor inventory usage trends and maintain appropriate stock levels to support a 24/7 specialty and emergency hospital

·Assist in developing and maintaining inventory controls, organization systems, and purchasing workflows

·Coordinate product returns, backorders, and vendor issue resolution

·Partner with department leaders to anticipate operational and medical supply needs

Vendor & Operational Relationships

·Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with vendors, distributors, service providers, and operational partners

·Communicate effectively with vendors regarding pricing, availability, repairs, service scheduling, and operational needs

·Support negotiations and operational purchasing initiatives in collaboration with the Hospital Director

·Maintain professionalism and strong communication in all external and internal interactions

Facility & Equipment Coordination

·Coordinate facility maintenance requests, repairs, and vendor services under the direction of the Hospital Director

·Monitor hospital equipment functionality and escalate concerns proactively

·Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and operationally efficient hospital environment

·Support operational readiness for all departments, including treatment areas, exam rooms, surgery, and specialty services

·Track and follow up on maintenance schedules, operational projects, and facility-related concerns

Operational Support

·Support daily hospital operations by troubleshooting logistical and operational challenges

·Collaborate with clinical and leadership teams to improve operational workflows and efficiency

·Maintain accurate purchasing, receiving, and inventory documentation

·Assist with operational projects, process improvements, and hospital initiatives as needed

·Promote accountability, organization, and operational excellence throughout the hospital

Qualifications

·Minimum 3–5 years of experience in veterinary operations, inventory management, or hospital support roles required

·Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, hospital operations, and medical terminology

·Experience in a veterinary specialty or emergency setting strongly preferred

·Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

·Experience building and maintaining vendor relationships preferred

·Familiarity with inventory systems and veterinary practice management software preferred

·Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and clinical teams

·Ability to lift and move supplies and inventory as needed
