Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Dietary Supervisor to lead our food service operations within a healthcare or assisted living environment. In this vital role, you will oversee the planning, preparation, and delivery of nutritious meals tailored to residents’ individual care plans. You will ensure compliance with health regulation policies, manage food safety standards, and supervise the dietary team to promote optimal nutrition and well-being. Your leadership will foster a positive, efficient, and compliant food service department that enhances residents’ quality of life.

Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate all aspects of food service delivery, including meal planning, preparation, and presentation in accordance with dietary guidelines and care plans
Manage food production processes to ensure high-quality, nutritious meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences
Lead and manage the dietary team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations to maintain a motivated and skilled workforce
Oversee food safety management practices to ensure compliance with health codes and regulations, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
Conduct patient assessments related to nutrition needs, including tube feeding management and diagnostic evaluation of dietary requirements
Utilize electronic health records (EHR) systems for documenting care plans, nutritional assessments, and food service activities
Monitor budget management for the dietary department, ensuring cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards
Collaborate with healthcare professionals on care plans involving clinical nutrition, physiology considerations, and specialized diets such as acute care or tube feeding protocols
Implement health coaching strategies to educate residents on nutrition and wellness practices
Ensure adherence to food service health code compliance policies and participate in routine inspections and audits

Qualifications

Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP)
Proven experience in assisted living or healthcare settings with a strong background in dietary supervision or management
Knowledge of food service management principles including budgeting, food safety management, and team supervision
Familiarity with patient assessment techniques related to nutrition needs and clinical nutrition principles
Experience supervising food production teams within a dietetics or dietary department environment
Strong understanding of health regulation policies related to food service operations and health code compliance
Skilled in managing electronic health records (EHR) or electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation purposes
Competence in managing tube feeding protocols, diagnostic evaluation processes, and acute care nutritional requirements
Leadership capabilities with excellent team management skills; able to motivate staff while ensuring high standards of care
Knowledge of physiology as it relates to nutrition and overall health outcomes
Ability to handle budgeting responsibilities effectively while maintaining quality standards
