Litigation Paralegal – Employment & Civil Litigation

$75,000–$95,000 + Annual Bonus | 3+ Years of Litigation Experience
Denver, Colorado | Full-Time | In-Person

About the Position

Kontnik | Cohen is a Denver litigation boutique specializing in employment law, civil rights, and family law. We are seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join our Employment & Civil Litigation team.

This position will work closely with our attorneys on employment and civil litigation matters in Colorado state and federal courts, as well as administrative proceedings and arbitrations. The ideal candidate has at least three years of substantive litigation paralegal experience and is comfortable managing cases through all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, hearings, arbitration, and trial.

We are looking for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable with technology, and capable of taking ownership of litigation support rather than simply waiting for assignments.

Responsibilities

The Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys throughout the litigation lifecycle, including:

Manage litigation calendars and track deadlines in federal and state court matters.
Review Case Management Orders, Scheduling Orders, local rules, and other procedural orders and ensure compliance with applicable deadlines.
Assist with preparing and filing pleadings, motions, notices, proposed orders, and other court filings.
Prepare and assist with initial disclosures, written discovery requests, discovery responses, and supplemental disclosures.
Coordinate with clients to gather documents and information necessary for discovery and case preparation.
Organize, review, and manage document productions, including large electronic document collections.
Assist with e-discovery, including document collection, organization, review, production, and maintenance of case databases.
Draft and issue subpoenas and coordinate service and third-party document productions.
Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, and other litigation-related proceedings.
Prepare deposition materials, exhibits, chronologies, witness files, and other case materials.
Assist attorneys with factual investigations and preparation of case timelines and factual summaries.
Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, mediators, arbitrators, expert witnesses, process servers, and other third parties.
Assist with expert witness coordination, including organizing materials and tracking expert disclosure deadlines.
Assist attorneys with preparation for dispositive motions, evidentiary hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
Prepare and organize trial exhibits, exhibit lists, witness materials, deposition designations, trial notebooks, and other trial materials.
E-file pleadings and other documents in Colorado state and federal courts.
Proofread and cite-check court filings and other legal documents.
Maintain complete and organized electronic case files.
Assist attorneys with other substantive litigation projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal in a law firm or comparable litigation environment.
Experience with civil litigation in state and/or federal court.
Strong understanding of litigation deadlines, discovery, depositions, and court procedures.
Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities.
Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and take ownership of assigned matters.
Strong technology skills and ability to learn new litigation and case-management software.

Preferred Qualifications

The following are preferred but not required:

Experience with employment litigation, civil rights litigation, or other complex civil litigation.
Experience with federal court litigation and CM/ECF.
Experience with e-discovery and document-review platforms.
Experience preparing cases for arbitration or trial.
Paralegal certificate and/or bachelor's degree.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $75,000–$95,000, depending on experience.
Annual performance/year-end bonus.
Health, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance: 100% of employee premium paid by the firm.
401(k): Firm contribution equal to 4% of annual salary, regardless of employee contribution.

Schedule

Full-time.
