Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team for the overnight shift from 6pm to 6am. This pivotal role involves providing exceptional patient care across a variety of clinical settings, ensuring safety, comfort, and well-being for diverse patient populations. The RN will utilize their extensive nursing expertise to perform comprehensive assessments, administer treatments, and coordinate care plans in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and health histories using advanced medical terminology and physiology knowledge.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform aseptic techniques following strict infection control protocols.
- Manage complex cases involving acute pain management, trauma medicine, ICU care, or emergency medicine scenarios, including airway management and ventilator support.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care coordination for patients with geriatrics, dementia, or developmental disabilities.
- Provide specialized care such as wound suturing, ostomy care, dialysis support, or tube feeding as required by patient needs.
- Participate in triage assessments for urgent care or emergency room situations, ensuring timely interventions and appropriate referrals.
- Maintain proficiency in ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for accurate medical documentation and billing purposes.
Skills
- Proven experience working in hospital settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or teaching hospitals with exposure to trauma medicine and critical care environments.
- Strong knowledge of medical imaging procedures including sonography and mammography is a plus.
- Skilled in laboratory procedures including specimen collection/processing and phlebotomy.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for efficient documentation.
- Expertise in managing patients with infectious diseases, behavioral health issues, or those requiring hospice & palliative medicine services.
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as catheterization (urinary or cardiac), spinal taps, or gastrostomy placements with aseptic technique.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge to deliver comprehensive acute care or post-acute care services.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in memory care settings enhances the quality of patient-centered care provided.
- Knowledge of Workers’ Compensation law applicable to occupational health cases is advantageous.
