PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Salary to be commensurate with experience

The hiring range for this position is $81,800.00 - $102,250.00/annually

OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT

The Youth Violence Program Administrator, under the direction of the Intervention Programs Division Manager, oversees the youth violence prevention program to provide services to juveniles who are at-risk, or high-risk, and their families. They will coordinate with multiple community-based organizations, governmental agencies, and law enforcement agencies in these efforts.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, develop, implement, document, and manage strategies, goals, policies, procedures, and performance measures for the youth violence prevention program.

Track and report progress on goals and performance measures and make recommendations for changes or improvements to achieve desired outcomes.

Oversee daily operations of the youth violence prevention program.

Manage the referral process for internal and external stakeholders to make referrals to the Youth Violence Prevention Program.

Collaborate with city departments, community mental health agencies, community-based organizations, and school districts to ensure coordination among juvenile system agencies and the youth violence prevention program regarding at-risk juveniles.

Build and maintain relationships with community members, school administrators, and partnering agencies. Attend various meetings with each group.

In conjunction with the Intervention Programs Division Manager, oversee the financial and accounting operations of the Youth Violence Prevention Program. Ensure timely processing of accounts payables and provide accurate and timely financial reports on a regular basis and upon request.

Oversee grant management, monitoring, and compliance for youth violence funding.

Serve as the Support & Outreach Working Group Lead for Aurora SAVE, the City’s group violence intervention program.

Oversee daily operations of and coordinate the Aurora SAVE Support & Outreach Working Group. Provide weekly reports for the Aurora SAVE team on actions and progress.

Act as the escalation point for tough issues and clients, while mentoring and supporting the Support & Outreach team.

Build and maintain relationships with community members, school administrators, and partnering agencies, and attend various meetings with each group.

Attend department meetings, division meetings, and other meetings as required or assigned.

Participate in interdepartmental meetings and collaborate with the Community Engagement Division as needed for presentations to outside groups.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field

Experience:

Two years of experience in youth violence prevention and/or intervention.

Two years of experience in case management/resource navigation.

Two years of experience in the development, implementation, and administration of programs.

Knowledge:

Structure, purpose, and administration of government and non-profit grant programs

Data analysis and visualization

Research, writing, and strong interpersonal skills and data analysis skills

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Colorado Driver’s License with a good driving record.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Essential Personnel:

When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the city, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.

Physical Demands:

Sedentary physical work that may involve occasional moving and/or lifting of up to 20 pounds.

Occasional lifting and carrying of objects.

Some walking and standing, both indoors and outdoors.

Clear vision to read and interpret reports and other written documents.

Speech communication and hearing abilities to maintain communication with employees and citizens.

Hand/eye coordination for operating a computer keyboard and other equipment.

Work Environment:

Primarily works indoors in a clean, comfortable office environment.

Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

This position is primarily in-person and office-based.

Equipment Used:

This position may require regular use of personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, other tools) during employment.

The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
