Full Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Concrete Estimator & Field Manager to serve as our dedicated concrete expert, responsible for delivering accurate bids and executing quality work in the field that keeps Rise Construction's projects on budget and built to last.

1. ABOUT US

2. WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

Concrete is the foundation — literally — of nearly every project we touch. As Rise continues to grow its commercial portfolio, we need someone who can own concrete from the first number on a bid sheet to the final pour in the field. This role exists because we don't want to hand off that responsibility to someone who doesn't understand the full picture. You will be the person who keeps our concrete scopes accurate, competitive, and executed right.

3. THE OPPORTUNITY

This isn't a siloed estimating desk job. You'll have real ownership over an entire scope of work — from how we price it to how it gets built. At Rise, the people who do the work have a voice in how the work gets done, and we're building a team where expertise is respected and rewarded.

What that looks like in practice:

You own the concrete scope end-to-end — estimating and planning
Your numbers directly influence whether we win projects and how profitable they are
You'll work alongside leadership on complex, interesting projects — not cookie-cutter repeat work
Performance bonus tied to project outcomes, so when the project wins, you win

4. WHAT YOU'LL DO

Estimating:

Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for commercial concrete scopes including flatwork, foundations, footings, and structural work
Review project plans, specs, and geotech reports to identify scope, risk, and opportunity
Collaborate with the Rise estimating team to ensure concrete bids are competitive, accurate, and complete
Assist in bid leveling and value engineering conversations with ownership and clients

Field Management:

Coordinate scheduling, material procurement, and equipment needs for concrete scopes
Serve as the point of contact for concrete-related RFIs, change orders, and issues
Maintain documentation including daily logs, pour records, and inspection reports

5. THE MINDSET REQUIRED

Owns the Numbers: You take personal pride in accurate numbers — a bad estimate isn't just a miss, it's a problem you want to prevent
Office-to-Field Fluency: You're comfortable moving between a desk and a job site without losing a step
Proactive Communicator: You speak up early when something doesn't look right — in the plans, in the field, or in the budget
Self-Directed: You don't need to be micromanaged — you know what needs to happen and you make it happen
Team Builder: You treat subcontractors and crews with respect and hold them to a high standard at the same time

6. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Must-Haves:

Hands-on experience estimating concrete — you've done takeoffs and know how to build a number from the ground up
Field experience managing concrete scopes — you've been on the job site and know what good work looks like
Familiarity with commercial concrete including flatwork, foundations, footings, and structural applications
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Strong communication skills — you can talk to an owner, an engineer, and a concrete crew in the same day

Nice-to-Haves:

Experience with estimating software (Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, ProEst, or similar)
Background in tilt-up or structural concrete

7. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base Pay: $90,000 – $120,000 [dependent on experience]
Commission: Performance-based bonus tied to project profitability and execution
Flexible Time Off: At Rise, we operate on a flexible time-off model built on mutual trust. As long as your targets are on track and your teammates and clients are supported, you have the flexibility to take time off as needed.
Paid Holidays: Rise observes seven paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (and the Friday after), and Christmas Day.
Growth: As Rise scales, this role scales with it — compensation and title will reflect your impact
