ACTIVITY DIRECTOR

JOB TITLE: ACTIVITY DIRECTOR

DEFINITION: This is a Non-Union full-time skilled position under the direction of the Residents Services Director and the Administrator. The primary purpose of your position is to coordinate in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing Activity Programs according to current applicable Federal,

State, and local requirements, as well as the established Golfview Developmental Center policies and procedures. As Activity Director you are to ensure that the spiritual development, emotional, recreational, and social needs of the resident are met and maintained on an individual basis

EQUIPMENT: Wheelchairs, mechanical lifts, stereo equipment, small electric cooking equipment, popcorn machine, and facility vehicles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Listed below is an outline of the major duties and responsibilities that you will be required to perform. As Activity Director, you are delegated the authority, responsibility and accountability needed to carry out your assigned duties. As Activity Director you directly answer to the Resident Services Director.

1. Coordinate the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the activity programs of this facility.

2. Meet with Resident Services Director, Casemanagers, Nursing staff and other related departments in planning activities and coordinate these activities with other departments as necessary.

3. Develop and maintain a good working rapport with other departments within the facility and outside community social and recreational agencies to ensure that activity programs will be properly carried out to meet the needs of the residents.

4. Assist in the development, administering and coordinating of department policies and procedures.

5. Evaluate and discipline department staff when necessary.

6. Select and provide a variety of activities (in and out of facility) which are appropriate to the clients’ needs.

7. Prepare a monthly calendar of activities and post in an attractive and comprehensive way on the bulletin boards provided for this purpose.

8. Be mindful of your department’s budget and monitor expenditures to stay within that budget, recommend any department and supply needs to the Resident

Services Director.

9. Serve on various committees of the facility.

10. Attend and participate in seminars and meetings as deemed necessary by the Resident Services Director and Administrator.

11. Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, charge slips, reports, etc., and submit to the resident Service Director, Bookkeeper, or Administrator.

12. Coordinate and arrange transportation for field trips, outing, etc., when necessary.

13. Conduct the Resident Council meeting monthly and forward any concerns or complaints to the appropriate Department Head for resolution.

14. Encourage hobbies and crafts and provide materials in keeping with resident’s financial status and department budget, bearing in mind the age appropriateness and function of such activities.

15. Participate in annual staffings by preparing and Activity Assessment for each resident. Develop and implement the knowledge gained from these assessments into the monthly activities for the residents.

16. Is familiar with and adheres to all applicable State and Federal regulations and professional standards.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

1. Works in well lighted and ventilated areas.

2. Sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds and moving intermittently during working hours.

3. Subject to frequent interruptions.

4. Involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies and or personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.

5. Subject to hostile and emotionally upset patients, family members, etc.

6. Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.

7. Communicates with all facility personnel.

8. Attend and participate in continuing educational programs as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have High School Diploma.

2. Must have completed or the ability to complete, the 36 hour Activity Directors Course.

3. Must have valid drivers license.

4. Must maintain CPR, First Aid, and Mandt Certification.

5. Must be 18 years of age

6. Must have legal authorization to work within the United States of America.

7. Must be able to report to work on time and to perform the duties of the job for the entire workday.

8. Must be able to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required.

9. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and to effectively communicate with the public.

10. The ability to use good judgment while performing job related tasks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,000.00 per year
