Full Job Description

ER Manager

Location: Fort Walton Beach, FL
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Primarily evenings/nights, with flexibility as the schedule transitions to a more standard 8-10 hour shift
Salary: $100,000-$118,000 annually, based on experience
Relocation: Considered on a case-by-case basis

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced ER Manager to oversee the daily operations, staffing, and quality of care within a high-volume Emergency Department. This role will primarily support the night shift and will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, patient-centered care while leading and engaging the nursing team.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily Emergency Department operations and nursing staff.
Manage staffing, scheduling, coverage, and staffing shortages.
Monitor quality, patient safety, clinical outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention of nursing staff.
Promote staff engagement, accountability, and a positive work environment.
Collaborate with nursing leadership and other departments to address operational needs.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
Provide leadership and support during high-volume and critical situations.

Requirements

2-3 years of recent acute care Emergency Department Manager or Supervisor experience.
Charge Nurse experience alone does not qualify.
Current RN license in the state of practice or active compact RN license.
Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required; BSN preferred.
BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS, PALS, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention required within 90 days of hire.
TNCC required within 6 months of hire.
Strong leadership, staffing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience managing staffing challenges and leading a busy Emergency Department team preferred.

Department Snapshot

40-bed Emergency Department with 2 trauma rooms.
10 behavioral health beds with capacity to expand during high-volume periods.
Level II Trauma Center.
Approximately 100 direct reports shared between day and night ER leadership.
Primary responsibility for night-shift staff, including scheduling and daily operations.
