Full Job Description

The Behavioral Center of Michigan is urgently hiring for Behavioral Health Registered Nurses for DAY SHIFT (12 hours) in our inpatient psychiatric care facility in Detroit, Michigan. This is a temporary 13-week contingent assignment, consisting of 3 12-hour shifts per week.

The Behavioral Center of Michigan, an accredited psychiatric hospital providing high levels of psychiatric care to adult patients and committed to person focused care is looking for Registered Nurses to be responsible for the delivery of quality nursing care for all patients through the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

RN Staff Nurse Qualifications:

Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
Current status as a registered nurse in the State of Michigan.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred).
One year of experience in nursing, with one additional year of experience in psychiatric nursing (preferred).
Experience in behavioral health or geriatric population is preferred.

Psychiatric Nurse Job Responsibilities:

Deliver quality nursing care for all patients through the process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Modifies the nursing component of the Master Treatment Plan as required by changing patient needs, as determined by evaluation of care administered.
Documents nursing interventions and patient response on progress notes; uses AIR charting.
Develops a therapeutic relationship with assigned patients; assists patients in developing coping mechanisms to deal with feelings.
Encourages independent behavior in patients in a therapeutic, age-appropriate manner.
Applies restraints or imposes seclusion in an emergency situation, notifying the patient’s physician for orders as soon as possible within the guidelines of the Seclusion and Restraint Policy. Reviews policy and procedures on a regular basis.
Admits, discharges and transfers patients based on physician orders, and follows up and completes necessary documentation.

This is position is needed for DAY SHIFT 7a-7p (12 hour shifts) located in Detroit, Michigan.
