Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Production Sewing Technician / Fabricator to join our team. In this hands-on role, you will use physical templates to mark and cut fabric components with an electric rotary cutter, then sew them together with standard webbing and hardware to produce patient lift slings and assemblies. The position requires strong attention to detail, a quality-first mindset, and the ability to produce consistent, reliable products. It involves a balanced mix of sitting and standing in a climate-controlled environment and offers the opportunity to contribute to products that improve safety and mobility for patients and caregivers.
Duties
- Accurately mark fabric using physical templates and cut components precisely with an electric rotary cutter according to specifications.
- Operate Juki and Consew industrial sewing machines to assemble cut fabric pieces with standard webbing, hardware, and reinforcements commonly used in patient lift slings.
- Follow detailed work instructions, patterns, and quality standards to ensure strong, consistent seams, proper alignment, and durable construction.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of stitching, measurements, seams, and overall workmanship; identify and correct any defects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while adhering to 5S principles and company safety protocols.
- Handle fabrics, webbing, reinforcements, and hardware components with care to prevent damage or contamination.
- Work effectively with a high degree of autonomy and minimal direct supervision while consistently meeting production goals and quality requirements.
- Perform basic machine setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance (e.g., needle changes, cleaning, tension adjustments) on Juki and Consew machines.
- Document production activities and completed work orders per established procedures to support traceability and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the broader production team as needed while maintaining focus and productivity in a quiet, detail-oriented setting.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Balanced mix of sitting and standing throughout the day.
- Occasional lifting and maneuvering of fabric rolls, bundles, or finished products (up to 50 lbs infrequently, with proper technique or assistance).
- Frequent use of hands for marking, cutting, guiding fabric, and operating machines.
- Visual acuity sufficient for close inspection of stitching and fine details (corrected vision acceptable).
- Climate-controlled manufacturing environment that is generally quiet with low supervision. Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–2 years minimum preferred experience as a sewing machine operator or in sewing/fabrication applications (industrial sewing, upholstery, marine canvas, apparel production, or similar textile work). This is not an entry-level position — candidates must have demonstrated sewing background and proficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, patterns, measurements, and technical instructions.
- Good manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to work independently while following established procedures and maintaining high standards.
- Positive team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM; Friday, 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
- Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).
Benefits
- Comprehensive benefits package including Health, Dental, and Vision insurance.
- 401(k) plan.
- Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.
