VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Bookkeeper LOCATION: Groves High School

SALARY: In accordance with the BAEOP salary schedule DEADLINE: Until Filled

SCHEDULE: Full-Time 11 Month POSTING DATE: August 17, 2026

START DATE: As soon as possible.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and analysis of financial transactions of the building with emphasis
on fund accounting functions, journal entries, reports, and banking, in accordance with accepted accounting
procedures.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide staff and administration support in the following accounting areas:

1. Receipts and records deposits on a daily basis. Prepares necessary reports and enters data into the
computerized financial system (Business Plus).

2. Records all necessary journal entries for in-house charges for entry into the financial system,
including but not limited to fundraisers, field trips, student fees and supply orders.

3. Assists in the data entry of all other financial information as necessary, including budgets, accounts
payable, and cash flow.

4. Maintain all student activity account reconciliations and conduct preliminary audit of those accounts.
5. Provide financial support and facilitate the accounting associated with student organizations.
6. Monitor all charges and prepare monthly budget updates.
7. Ensures district and state public school accounting regulations are adhered to in all circumstances.
8. Works collaboratively with the finance team to ensure processes and work flow are followed

appropriately.
9. Other duties as assigned by the principal and Finance Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The candidate selected for this assignment will be the one who offers the best combination of qualities in
accordance with the following standards and requirements:

1. Education: An associate’s degree with emphasis in accounting and/or business administration preferred.

2. Experience: A minimum of two years experience in Michigan public school finance/business office
preferred.

3. Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment, handles multiple projects, establish
priorities and resolve problems.

4. Self-directed, organized and able to meet strict deadlines with accuracy.
5. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
6. Accurate data entry skills required.
7. Possess a high degree of confidentiality with highly sensitive information about district employees and

vendors.
8. Experience and aptitude in the use of computerized systems (Business Plus), and Microsoft and Google

Suites including confidence in preparing spreadsheets.
9. Knowledge of the State of Michigan Accounting Manual.
