Job Description:
General Summary:
The Specifications Support member, with overall supervision from the Manager of Architecture assists in executing office and project-related specifications and technical tasks of simple complexity.
Essential Job Functions:

Capable of generally reading and understanding construction drawings and construction specifications.

Possess/demonstrates the technical ability to assist in the editing of construction specifications.

Assists in the assembling of construction specification sections into a project manual based on direction from the specifications writing technical staff.

Assists in preparation of basic specifications, including formatting the specs to meet the company or client standards.

Possess/demonstrates the communication skills to work with all assigned project team members, including engineering disciplines. Follows direction from the project assigned specifier and advises of any questions.

Coordinate closely with internal teams responsible for firm-wide standards for best practices, including sustainability, technical, and QA/QC.

Assist in maintaining specification templates, including codes standards, reference standards, and product identification.

Assist with development of best practices for quality assurance and quality control on issues such as consistent terminology and coordination between drawings and specifications.

Assist in continual improvement of construction specifications, including exploring best practices, new techniques, and new software tools.

Investigate new products, systems, and material compliance.

Performs related duties as assigned.
Employment Qualifications:
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management

1-3 years exposure to construction specifications preferred.
Skills/Competencies:

Proficiency in Bluebeam, BIM360, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams.

Ability to write clear, concise, and unambiguous sentences using active voice.

Ability to accurately describe materials, products and installation methods.

Understand basic construction methods, building materials and industry standards

Ability to read and interpret drawings.
