Full Job Description

Pioneer Endoscopy & Surgery Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center team. The Endoscopy RN provides comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal procedures in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, safety-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional clinical care while promoting efficient patient flow and positive patient outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care before, during, and after endoscopic procedures.
Prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, medications, allergies, and obtaining required documentation.
Start and maintain IV access and administer medications as ordered.
Monitor patients throughout procedures, including conscious/moderate sedation and recovery phases, according to facility policies and state regulations.
Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, EGD, flexible sigmoidoscopy, and other GI procedures.
Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up care.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, patient safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing staff education.
Other tasks as necessary to enhance effectiveness of the team and ASC.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members.

Qualifications Required

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current BLS certification.
Current ACLS certification or ability to obtain within designated time frame.
Minimum one (1) year of nursing experience.

Preferred

Previous endoscopy, GI, procedural, perioperative, PACU, ICU, or ambulatory surgery experience.
Experience with moderate sedation monitoring and recovery.
Familiarity with electronic medical records and ASC workflows.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients efficiently.
Excellent communication and patient education abilities.
Commitment to patient safety and quality outcomes.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Knowledge of infection prevention and regulatory standards.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds with assistance as needed.
Ability to move equipment and assist patients during transfers.
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
