The Director of Safety & Loss Prevention is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all safety, security, risk management, and loss prevention programs within the hotel. This position ensures the protection of guests, employees, visitors, company assets, and property while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Director leads emergency preparedness efforts, investigates incidents, and promotes a culture of safety and security throughout the organization.

Develop, implement, and monitor hotel safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, fire codes, health and safety standards, and company policies.

Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments throughout the property.

Lead accident prevention initiatives and employee safety training programs.
-
Maintain records of safety audits, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.

Oversee all hotel security operations and surveillance systems.
-
Develop and implement strategies to minimize theft, fraud, property damage, and liability claims.
-
Investigate incidents involving guests, employees, vendors, and visitors.
-
Coordinate with law enforcement agencies and emergency responders when necessary.

Monitor key control systems, access controls, and security procedures.
-
Develop and maintain emergency response and crisis management plans.
-
Conduct regular emergency drills, including fire evacuation, severe weather, active threat, and medical emergencies.

Serve as Incident Commander during emergencies and critical situations.

Ensure emergency equipment is properly maintained and operational.
-
Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies.
-
Investigate workplace injuries and guest incidents and prepare comprehensive reports.

Analyze trends and recommend improvements to reduce risk exposure.

Coordinate workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
-
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Security and Loss Prevention team members.

Conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing training for all employees.

Foster a culture of accountability, safety awareness, and guest service excellence.
-
Collaborate with department leaders to address safety concerns and ensure compliance.
-
Prepare departmental budgets and manage expenses.
-
Maintain all required licenses, certifications, permits, and regulatory documentation.
-
Prepare reports on incidents, claims, safety metrics, and loss prevention activities.
-
Participate in management meetings and provide recommendations regarding safety and security operations.
-
Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Risk Management, Occupational Safety, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred.

Relevant certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or OSHA certifications preferred.

Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in hotel security, loss prevention, safety management, or related field.

At least 3 years of management or leadership experience.

Experience in hospitality, resort, or hotel operations preferred.

Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, fire safety codes, emergency response procedures, and loss prevention practices.

Strong investigative and report-writing skills.

Ability to manage emergencies calmly and effectively.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in security technology, surveillance systems, and access control systems.

Ability to analyze data and identify trends affecting safety and security.

Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
-
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies throughout the property.

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
