Full Job Description

Position: Social Studies Teacher

Reports to: Principal

General Description: Provide instruction and support to guide students through the high school Social Studies curriculum.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop lessons related to the high school mathematics curriculum
Deliver high-quality instruction related to the high school social studies curriculum
Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups
Review and grade student activities, assignments and assessments
Implement school curriculum in accord with district standards and requirements
Maintain and record weekly engagements with both in-person and virtual students
Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, well-ordered and conducive to student learning
Check student progress and understanding frequently through curriculum monitoring, group discussions/activities, and 1-1 conversations
Meet with students regularly to discuss their goals, needs and academic progress
Actively participate in subject-area Professional Learning Community
Follow additional directives and assignments given by the principal

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to implement effective instructional strategies

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
MI Teaching Certificate or permit in Social Studies
Satisfactory completion of criminal history check
