Computational Engineering Expert – AI Trainer

Job Summary

In this role as a Computational Engineering Expert supporting AI Training and evaluation initiatives, you will apply your expertise in computational engineering, simulation, modeling, and systems analysis to help improve next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world engineering knowledge and technical problem-solving.

This is an hourly-paid contract opportunity, not a traditional engineering, research, or simulation development position. Contributors will work on project-based AI training and evaluation tasks while collaborating remotely with distributed teams in a flexible work environment. No prior experience in AI is required — your engineering expertise is what matters.

Key Responsibilities

Leverage your expertise in computational, simulation, and systems engineering to support AI training, benchmarking, and evaluation initiatives.
Analyze and provide feedback on AI model performance across realistic engineering scenarios involving CFD, FEA, robotics, control systems, and related domains.
Contribute to AI training and evaluation projects through technical assessments, response reviews, engineering reasoning tasks, and benchmarking workflows.
Review, assess, and enhance technical datasets, simulation outputs, workflows, and engineering analyses for quality and accuracy.
Utilize domain-specific tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, OpenFOAM, MATLAB, or similar platforms to validate engineering solutions and model outputs.
Create detailed written evaluations and communicate complex engineering concepts clearly to cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with subject matter experts and technical contributors to identify opportunities for AI model improvement.
Support the development of robust, real-world engineering benchmarks and evaluation frameworks for advanced AI systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications

PhD, Master's degree with significant industry experience, or equivalent professional expertise in a computational, simulation, or systems engineering discipline.
Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas such as CFD, FEA, computational mechanics, robotics, control systems, signal processing, numerical methods, or related fields.
Hands-on experience with engineering simulation, modeling, and analytical tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, MATLAB, OpenFOAM, or similar platforms.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking abilities with a commitment to technical rigor.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex engineering concepts clearly and effectively.
Experience working with Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting environments used in scientific and engineering workflows.
Ability to synthesize complex technical knowledge into actionable insights for multidisciplinary teams.
Comfortable working independently in a remote, collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience applying AI, machine learning, or data-driven techniques within engineering, simulation, or research environments.
Familiarity with high-performance computing (HPC), optimization methods, digital twins, or large-scale simulation environments.
Publication record, patents, technical leadership experience, or significant R&D contributions in computational engineering or simulation disciplines.
Experience evaluating technical content, developing engineering assessments, or contributing to AI model evaluation projects.
Familiarity with AI training-related workflows and engineering-focused benchmarking methodologies is a plus.
