About Us:

Knowledge Relay is a leading player in the Project Controls data visualization market, specializing in providing innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of government and energy utility industries. Our cutting-edge products and services empower clients to make data-driven decisions with confidence.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Executive with strong Business to Business (B2B) sales skills in the technical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities with existing clients, developing relationships with potential clients, understanding their needs and requirements, and closing sales to achieve revenue targets. This position will report directly to the President, with opportunities for growth and advancement for successful candidates.

Key responsibilities:

Responsible for obtaining profitable quarterly results through sales results.

Lead Generation and Prospecting:

Identify and prospect potential clients through cold calls, emails, networking, AI platforms, and other lead generation methods.
Conduct discovery meetings and position the company’s value against operational pain points.
Build and maintain a healthy pipeline with disciplined forecasting and activity management.

Client Relationship Management:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within target organizations.
Understand the client’s business needs, challenges, and requirements, and propose solutions that meet their needs.
Expand and close additional business with existing accounts.

Sales Strategy and Execution:

Create strategic annual sales plan to hit targets along with Quarterly/Monthly Action Plan.
Create and execute specific account strategies to capitalize on identified opportunities. This includes cross sell, up sell, and new client strategies.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop customized proposals, presentations, and pricing strategies to win new business.

Product Demonstrations and Marketing:

Assist with the creation and dissemination of product value and marketing information.
Partner with marketing to improve campaign follow-up and content-driven lead conversion.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings.
Document customer insights and competitive intelligence for the broader go-to-market team.
Prepare and execute web-based and in-person software demonstrations.

Reporting and Performance Tracking:

Create and deliver regular status reports, including estimating close dates and sales pipeline to meet sales targets.
Maintain a pipeline of potential opportunities and provide regular updates on sales activities and progress.

Industry Knowledge:

Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to identify new business opportunities.

Qualifications:

Experience selling into utilities, energy, industrial, or other complex B2B environments.
Knowledge and understanding of Project Controls/Project Management practices and solutions.
Comfort working long sales cycles, multi-stakeholder deals, and procurement-heavy buying processes.
Ability to map operational pain points to software value, not just “sell features.”
Strong CRM discipline, pipeline hygiene, forecasting, and territory planning.
Familiarity with outbound prospecting, account planning, and executive-level discovery.
Ability to support conferences, webinars, LinkedIn outreach, and other industry-specific lead-gen channels.
Collaboration with marketing, product, and customer success to refine messagingand handoff quality.
Basic understanding of data/AI/analytics concepts.
Willingness to travel for customer meetings and industry events, as needed.
Comfort in a small-company environment where the role may also help shape process, messaging, and sales ops.

Educational Background:

Minimum bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, Technology, or related field.

Experience:

3–5 years of B2B sales or business development experience, preferably in SaaS, technology, energy, utilities, or industrial software.
Proven track record of consistently achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
Proven success generating and advancing pipeline through outbound prospecting, LinkedIn engagement, email, phone, and events.
Experience selling to technical and operational stakeholders in complex buying environments.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present to executive and operational audiences.
High proficiency with CRM tools, sales automation, and prospecting systems.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and internal teams.
Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Prior experience with software and SaaS sales.
Knowledge of technical products and services.

Pay Range for Position:

$75,000.00 – $85,000.00/year base salary depending on experience plus competitive commission structure.
