Full Job Description

This is a College of Graduate Nursing administration-level position within Western University of Health Sciences and is offered in conjunction with an administrative appointment. Together, the faculty appointment and the administrative role of Assistant Director of APRN Clinical Partnerships (PCN A04097) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE / 5 days per week).

The salary range listed in this posting represents the total compensation for the combined administrative and faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding administrative posting for additional details.

Serve as a member of the faculty for the College of Graduate Nursing, and teach in the CGN APRN programs, participate in college and university committees, conduct scholarly research, and perform other such duties as directed by the Assistant Dean for APRN Programs or Dean of the College.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Expertise and knowledge of entry level nursing and advanced practice of nursing.
Ability to design, implement and evaluate courses, lectures and seminars and evaluate student achievement.
Knowledge of basic and advanced clinical skills required of nurses in multiple settings.
Maintain accurate records and reports of clinical and didactic performance of students.
Ability to communicate with a variety of health professionals that contribute to the clinical/didactic education of nursing students.
Work effectively with colleagues, staff and administration to advance the mission of the institution.
Demonstrate basic computer literacy and skills in emerging teaching technologies.
Willingness to remain flexible and adapt to the changing technological advancements associated with delivering curriculum.
Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Must possess a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.

Licensure:

Must possess a current and valid license as a registered nurse.
Board-certified Nurse Practitioner in at least one of the APRN specialty tracks offered by CGN.

Experience:

Two years clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

Doctoral degree.

Experience:

Two years teaching experience in nursing education.

Essential Job Duties

Key Responsibilities

Service:

Attend and participate in College and University functions, Commencement, Convocation, White Coat, Pinning, etc.
Participate in institutional and college activities and decision-making which may include:
- Curriculum development or evaluation.
- CGN and University committees.
- Formal and informal faculty development programs.
- Annual revisions of the Student and Clinical handbooks.
Maintain clinical competency in area of specialty.

Key Responsibilities

Scholarship:

Participate in academic support activities such as conferences, seminars, student recruiting, etc.
Develop a program of research or evidence-based practice.
Contribute one piece of scholarship per academic year.
Participate in the CGN Mentorship Program.

Key Responsibilities

Other:

Complete other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean for APRN Programs and Dean of the College of Graduate Nursing.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching:

Teach in the APRN programs based on specialty certification.
Assess and evaluate clinical preceptors and clinical education sites. Perform clinical site visits, and mentor students in the clinical setting.
Advise and guide students to gain success in clinical rotations and service learning experiences while translating their didactic course content.
Teach in other Western University programs to promote inter-professional education.

Work Schedule

Typically M-F 8 AM – 5 PM with flexibility to support a hybrid academic program. Availability for occasional college or university special events, and weekend seminars (6x per year) is required.
