Typical Duties Include
- Assess and monitor patients emerging from anesthesia, evaluating airway, breathing, circulation, and level of consciousness in accordance with physician orders and department protocols
- Administer medications, including pain management, antiemetics, and reversal agents, per physician orders and PACU protocols
- Monitor and manage airway status, providing oxygen therapy and intervening for airway compromise, including assisting with reintubation if needed
- Perform continuous hemodynamic monitoring, including vital signs, cardiac rhythm, pulse oximetry, and end-tidal CO2 as indicated
- Assess and manage post-operative pain, nausea, temperature regulation, and surgical site/dressing status
- Recognize and respond promptly to signs of post-anesthesia complications, including respiratory depression, hemodynamic instability, and emergence delirium
- Educate patients and caregivers on post-operative care, discharge instructions, medication management, and warning signs to report
- Monitor patient progress against discharge criteria (e.g., Aldrete score), adjust care plans accordingly, and document outcomes to support safe transfer or discharge
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe and efficient patient transitions
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to ASPAN standards, state licensure requirements, and facility compliance protocols

- At least 2 years of recent PACU experience
- ASN or BSN in Nursing
