Assignment Overview

Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs
Hours: 36 hrs/wk
Start Date: Jul 20, 2026
Length: 13 weeks

Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring charge experience, L&D clinical skills including OB emergency management, and current fetal monitoring certification.

Details

LDRP unit with 9 beds, 1 OBED bed, 4 NICU beds, and 1 OR suite
Patient ratios: 1:1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections; couplet care 1:3; newborns 1:1 until stable; NICU intermediate care 1:3 (minimum 2 NICU nurses required in unit at all times)
No unit secretaries or techs available on the unit
Equipment includes CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps
Documentation systems: Meditech and CPN
Full-time schedule of 3 shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays
Floating required facility-wide if not needed on the unit; some staff are cross-trained to float between LDRP and NICU
Procedures performed include C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps assisted deliveries
Daily patient rounding and safety rounding required

Requirements

Active TN or Compact RN license required
Required certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC), NRP Advanced 9th Edition (American Academy of Pediatrics card), and intermediate or advanced AWHONN fetal monitoring certification or NCCEFM
Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start
Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience required, including laboring and recovering the mother and receiving and transitioning the newborn
Charge nurse experience required
Experience with OB emergencies including shoulder dystocia and postpartum hemorrhage preferred
Experience with inductions using Pitocin and Cervidil required
Fetal monitoring education and experience required
US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)

Additional Information

Facility is Joint Commission accredited with Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, and Level II NICU designations
Pink and/or brown scrubs are required per the unit's infant security policy
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible for this position
